Our experience at this restaurant was underwhelming, especially considering the price and the reputation. The food simply wasn’t very good. Several dishes felt like the chef was trying to be creative for the sake of creativity, but the ingredients didn’t work together in a balanced way. Flavors clashed rather than complemented each other. A few dishes were passable, but nothing stood out in a memorable way, and one of our desserts never arrived.

Service also fell short. Our bill was inconsistent — we were charged a different amount the second day than what we had originally been given. We requested a kitchen tour and never received any response. At multiple points, there were no servers on the floor; it looked like the staff were overextended and constantly pulled into the back, which left the dining room unattended for long stretches.

Overall, the experience wasn’t terrible, but for a fine-dining restaurant at this price level, it missed the mark on both food and service. It’s not a place I would recommend based on our visit, and in my view, it’s not worth the hype or the cost.

This was an experience like no other. From the moment we were greeted and personally escorted in and introduced to the maitre’d, to the personal touches by staff and the chefs. The creative genius in the kitchen really connected us to a much bigger world as every little detail was sourced globally or grown by the chef.

An excellent experience worthy of your highest expectations.

We went for our anniversary dinner 6/20 - looking for a Michelin Star restaurant in Paso Robles - and the food, service, and atmosphere was good! It would have been a solid experience however there was a hair in the main pasta dish which at the Michelin Star level, should not have happened. There was no compensation or address from the Chef. A complimentary bottle of wine would have saved the experience, however it was not offered. The food was good, would probably try the other Michelin Star option in Paso Robles instead of Justin next time.

We had a truly memorable anniversary dinner at The Restaurant at Justin. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The food was exquisite—highlights included the halibut crudo, lamb, pasta, and a series of creative and delicious amuse-bouche selections. The kitchen was also incredibly thoughtful and accommodating of our dietary needs.Dessert was equally impressive, providing a perfect finale. What truly elevated the evening, though, was the wine pairing—easily the best I’ve ever experienced. Each selection was thoughtfully chosen and complemented the dishes with precision and elegance. The service was just as outstanding as the food. The servers were warm, attentive, and deeply knowledgeable. They introduced each course with care, explained the ingredients and preparation beautifully, and ensured perfect timing throughout the meal. Their genuine hospitality made us feel truly welcomed.

Chef Rachel’s artistry with fresh ingredients shone through in every dish, and truly justifies the Michelin star. The harmony of flavors and presentation reflected a high level of craft and creativity. A phenomenal experience from beginning to end—highly recommended, and can not wait to go back!

The Restaurant at Justin Winery was our first experience dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant. We arrived early and were greeted warmly, offered a complimentary glass of wine, and invited to wander the garden until our table was ready. The garden and patio area are beautiful and the vineyard view quite lovely. For the meal, we had the Estate Tasting Menu. My husband added the wine pairing. During the explanation of the menu, we were offered the chance to upgrade 2 of the course options for a significant price increase. A third option which we decided to do was only $18. But for a dinner that cost $225 each, that really seems like nickel and diming customers unnecessarily. I get that you don’t include caviar on the regular tasting menu but the little souffle dish for $18 up charge seems stingy. Why not include it? Anyway, the food was beautifully presented and tasted good. Service was impeccable. Was it really worth what we paid? Not really.

Amazing experience. Michelin 2 stars, not 1. Congratulations! Please open more days, not just weekends.

After experiencing an amazing, delightful and delicious dinner at a Michelin restaurant in france - Lalique at Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey, we were excited about finding Justin during our visit to Paso Robles. Unfortunately and rather sadly the 2 experiences could not be any more different. We selected the Chef’s Tasting Menu a 3 hour experience at Justin. I wish we could get out time back never mind the expense. From the start, they placed us facing the kitchen door which was constantly opening and closing very distracting. We requested to be moved to another table, there were several open in main outdoor area, yet they chose to put us in the outskirt area requiring us to request a heater. We were clearly far removed from main sitting area and lacking any ambiance. It’s as if we were an afterthought. Then the FOOD - on a rating scale, I would have to rate at the lowest score. The sample size bites of food lacked creativity and uniqueness. The food seemed to lack flavor, taste and cold. Some of the finger food was soggy and broke upon touch. Although the service staff was good they did seem eager to rush the service removing plates as others were still eating. To say we were disappointed would not be enough. We’ve dined at many restaurants (not Michelin rated) with exceptional service and delicious food. I would skip this experience.

Save your time and money - definitely disappointing from seating to eating. The portions were extremely small and unsatisfying. We were expecting an exceptional experience given that it was a Michelin rated restaurant at a Winery, not so much. There was little of unique artistry in the presentation and certainly not enough of the bite to enjoy any substantive flavors. It was a 3 hour meal at $$$$ which left us hungry and wanting of a burger.

We ate at Justin's restaurant 15 years ago, it was awesome back then and now it's an experience not to be missed. Every dish was better than the one before, it was an ethereal dinner with a few hacks that I'll add.

The restaurant & bar area are beautiful, it reminded me of The Menu, except nobody was yelling "yes chef". There's a great outdoor patio and grounds that aren't to be missed. I can't adequately describe the food, other than to say each dish is a new experience of heaven.

The hacks are if you join the wine club, it's 20% off of dinner. There are 2 menu options, the Estate menu for $225 and Chef menu for $350, the Chefs menu is the better value and incredible dishes. If you're into wine paring with the menu, it's $110 for each person, but you can also share 1 wine paring for 2 people.

The Wagu beef was beautifully done, as was the cheese souffle, the scallop with caviar in a white sauce was amazing, it was all I could do not to use my finger to scoop up every molecule of sauce. The executive and sous chefs are artists and this menu is their masterpiece.

The staff is extraordinary, they're personable and attentive without hovering or being disruptive. Obviously this is an expensive restaurant, but if you're looking for a memorable event or celebrating a special moment, I can't recommend Justin highly enough.

I looked for a Michelin star restaurant in Paso Robles to celebrate my wife’s birthday. I stumbled across The Restaurant at Justin, read the various reviews and made our reservations.

It does require a $100 deposit per person that is refunded on arrival.

From the moment we arrived we were greeted and treated with fantastic hospitality.

We had opted for the Chef’s Choice and wine pairing and were delighted with every single course. I had wished I had taken photos of every course but was initially concerned with not showing class. After a certain point, I no longer cared. The food appearance and taste were just too fantastic to care.

I had taken my wife to a Michelin star restaurant in Italy when we first started dating in Italy 30 years ago. We were eager to experience the same service and culinary quality. We were not disappointed.

As we decided with the Chef’s menu, it was a set meal with wine pairing.

Each course that arrived looked like a piece of artwork. The wine pairing was excellent, my only recommendation would be to advise the patron that one glass would be paired with one or two courses. As there wasn’t a pour per each course, and you were required to gauge what wine was for what courses.

The views were also fantastic as the restaurant was nestled in rolling hills of the vineyard and reminded me of Northern Italy.

Book in advance and enjoy the best of Paso Robles.

The Restaurant at Justin Vineyards may have a Michelin star but we have had better meals for less money at fine restaurants that do not have a star. The restaurant may meet the "Star" criteria of quality, artistry, and consistency over time, but there's more to it than that, and we won't know about "over time" because we won't go back. The first small item, amuse bouche, was tasty but I had no utensil to eat it. I waited but the servers did not check back. When they came to pick up the plates, they noticed and brought me a spoon. The portions were beautiful and tasty, but ridiculously small. Why go to so much trouble for people to have two or three bites? The servings weren't equal sizes for the four of us and one course, my husband's plate had a pile of spigarello, greens, while the rest of us had one spindly wisp of green. We felt silly mentioning it, but it was so obviously "off." It took them some time to bring us more. We kept jokingly deducting a half a star, but then had to make it one-fourth for each incident, as there were so many. I'm glad we bought a $400 bottle of wine as we then at least all had a full glass during the meal. The wine pairing would have cost more and now I read that the wine portions are very small. The restaurant fell short of other Michelin-star restaurants where we have eaten, so save your money and eat somewhere else.

There are so many bees. I couldn't eat outside. Bees rushed every plate. I didn't enjoy the food and wine. After all, we changed the table I could afford to eat the dishes. Hamburger was really, really good. Pasta is so chewy. But salmon is Soso, not crispy.
