The food was good, and the service was nice. This is not Denny's quality but it also isn't a fancy place you'd dress up and plan to go to. My mom and I got two drinks, one appetizer, and two main dishes. All of that cost us ~$80 (not to mention a free bread basket with not much bread) so overall it was nice, just pretty expensive for the quality. At the end of the day, we went there because of the history so there's also that.
Had a great afternoon out in Petaluma and went to Volpi’s Italian Restaurant to enjoy their classic Italian cuisine in a setting full of local history and has been in the family for 100 years. Service was efficient.
We often start with Deep Fried Calamari when we go out. Volpi’s calamari does not disappoint. Classically made it is fresh and with a great texture. Tried and true dipping sauces accompany this appetizer.
My husband and I shared a Caesar salad with anchovies. I mean when in Rome or at least Petaluma, you gotta to try and live the full experience, right? Again, Volpi’s got it right!
For our entrees we had the Veal Saltimbocca and my husband was smiling throughout all his bites. It was jump in his mouth good.
I had the Lamb Shank and enjoyed how tender it was as the lamb fell off the bone. The side green beans were cooked to perfection and the polenta was exceptionally creamy and stood out in the meal. We’d come back just for the polenta!
For dessert we had the tiramisu. Another classic dish that they did beautifully. The environment was fun, the food was delicious, and we enjoyed our night out at Volpi’s.
The food is fantastic! I had the gnocchi with alfredo and shrimp. If you go on a Friday evening, you will be waiting quite awhile.
Volpe’s in Petaluma offers a delightful dining experience with its old-school Italian charm. The half-and-half gnocchi ravioli is a standout, perfectly executed and bursting with flavor. Their polenta is creamy, buttery, and absolutely delicious. The chicken saltimbocca is another highlight, with its great flavor and an outstanding sauce that ties the dish together beautifully. The restaurant boasts classic Italian decor that adds to the ambiance, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Despite being very busy on a Thursday night, the staff was friendly and attentive, making the experience all the more enjoyable. A must-visit spot for those who love authentic Italian cuisine.
Volpi's has the best food in town. The service is awesome too. Just be aware their main dinning room gets very loud. If you have a large group, forget about trying to hear what someone on the other end of the table is saying. You need to be a professional lip reader to understand what they are saying. Also if you are from Petaluma, expect to see at least one person you know at Volpi's. It's a great restaurant over all. I highly recommend it.
This has to be the worst Italian experience I have had. Previous ratings are inaccurate or they were having an extremely bad night. I wouldn’t waste my good money going back!

We ordered family style and had 5 different dishes; 3 pastas, salmon and a chicken Marsala. Every single dish was delicious and even the toddlers loved the food.

The food was fantastic. The service was amazing. The atmosphere is kind of small town, old style Italian restaurant. So for me I liked it. Not a fufu place. I plan on going back next time I'm in the area.
Parking: There's parking just one half block down the street at a parking garage for free.

Hopping family-friendly Italian restaurant. Basic good quality eats. Super friendly staff. Solid, not exciting. Loved that there was a vegan pasta option—tasty and good quantity of veg. I also ordered a side of veggies.
Vegetarian options: Vegan pasta option plus a couple veg options—better than most Italian restaurants these days!
Parking: We found a spot right at the corner. Always helps to come early.

One of the few restaurants that still has veal on the menu and their veal marsala was excellent!
Kid-friendliness: They have a kid menu
Recommended dishes: Minestrone Soup, Lava Cake, Creamy Polenta
I recently visited Volpi’s Ristorante and ordered their famous house pasta, to which I added chicken. The flavor was delightful and the portion size was really generous, providing great value. What truly sets this place apart is its charming and historical atmosphere; it’s evident they’ve done a fantastic job in preserving the spirit of their beginnings since 1925. It’s not just a meal, it’s an experience steeped in history.

A big disappointment from previous experiences. There were 4 of us. Two meals weren’t even hot. One was overcooked and another was burned and had been reheated.

Volpi's | Ristorante & Bar offers a delightful culinary experience, combining exquisite Italian flavors with a warm and inviting ambiance, making it a standout destination for a memorable dining experience.
Amazing! I always forget how good this place is. Volpi's is a true piece of Petaluma History, it may no longer be a speak-easy but still server up some fantastic meals. I still miss the deli, but holiday nights are the best here.
