There was a bit of wait to be seated but that is the first sign of good food. The quality was very good. The kids had pancakes and eggs and they loved it. We had omelette and bacon and sausage and it was all very good. The sausage was especially good. It wasn't too sweet or too much hickory flavor and just right. The seats were a little tighter fit if you are on the larger side. But still comfortable enough. It gave me a feeling of an old breakfast place which is exactly what I was looking for.

What can I say, two weeks travelling around California, Penny's was without a doubt, hands down the best breakfast and coffee we had, great service, great price and great location, if staying in Pismo Beach, this is a must!

For years we let the crowd waiting outside of Penny's All American Cafe deter us from attempting to patronizing this eatery. A huge mistake. Even with patrons waiting out front...our wait was less than 15 minutes. On the morning of our visit Penny's All American Cafe was "hoppin". We were seated at a window seat that looked out onto the outdoor seating/dinner area...nice. The restaurant had a good "buzz" going. The tables and chairs were "simple" yet for decor, the walls of the establishment had some cool pictures, signs and knickknacks to look at. Our Server, Aaron, was pleasant, professional, informative and busy, but to his credit...his table service was "spot on". Our breakfast selections consisted of a Drink: Bloody Mary - (5/5 - really very good) and our Meal(s): Eggs Benedict (5/5) w/potato+onion, Pork Chile Verdejo Omelette (5/5) w/ hash browns, a Country Breakfast w/bacon (4/5) biscuits and gravy + 2 eggs and a Pismo Pier Omelette (4/5) w/potatoes. Comfort food at its best...every dish was very satisfying, and we all took home leftovers. In this Yelper's opinion...on this occasion, Penny's All American Cafe in Pismo beach, for its customer service and excellent food, truly earned this "highly recommend" 5 Star review.

Got the toast right this time. Always great service and delicious food. A perfect breakfast/brunch spot. Even if they are busy, they are worth the wait. The restaurant is small, but they are quick to get you in.

Hubby and I are on a mini vacation. We wanted a good breakfast place. This place was perfect! Hubby ordered pancakes, eggs, and sausage. I ordered a slab of ham with eggs and hashbrowns. The food was delicious! Pancakes were huge. We had plenty of leftovers for the next morning.

I tried their chili, poached eggs, and biscuits. Chili was ok. Poached eggs were perfect. The biscuits were not even close to what I would call a biscuit. They were flat, dense, and chewy. Maybe reheated or over mixed? The service was fine. The ambiance was diner-like. A very small space with lots of people. I'm not sure I'll be returning anytime soon but I might if someone said "They have the BEST ...." What are they known for? Pancakes? My BIL ordered pancakes and my SIL order waffles, my hubs had the French toast--all looked very basic and unappealing. Suggestions--make jams and honey butter in-house. Offer good peanut butter (not packaged). For a charming little spot it felt as if the back of house was bulk and pkg food - nothing personal or special.
Great breakfast! Wife had the chorizo plate with beans and potatoes and I had the pancake combo with eggs and bacon. The chorizo, bacon and pancakes were our favorites. We'll be back.

It was okay. Very pricy and nothing spectacular about the food. The wait was over an hour. Service was slow. IMHO, Bubba Gump is way better.

Great breakfast diner. Great service and family friendly.
What a little gem this place is! Our first visit to Pismo from Chicago. Starting with first impressions , the place was full and busy but we were seated pretty quick. Our server Aaron greeted us with a nice smile and we're off to a great start! The food was amazing, so much to choose from! Hubby got Dave's mess, I got Eggs Benedict. Yummy!! The service was great, never an empty cup, again everything was smooth, and friendly. For such a busy place you might expect slow service but NO, our server, the kitchen, the bussing - everything was on point. We will be back! We will ask for Aaron, and we will try a different dish because it was too hard to choose from all the delicious options. Thank you Penny's and your staff for making our trip out west a delicious memory!
