The salmon picatta was the best I've ever had! My husband and I split everything and they graciously offered splits without extra charge. We don't come to Placerville that often but we make sure to stop by every chance we get!

The only food you that was great was the vegetables, Mac& cheese salty, 60.00 steak cooked right but the meat wasn't tender.

We always have a wonderful time at The Independent! Takaio (sp) is our favorite server, just the best.

Filet mignon was medium rare perfectly with a delicious salty herbed butter sauce. The mashed Yukon gold potatoes were yummy, the broccoli tender crisp. The mixed green salad that started the meal was fresh, balsamic vinaigrette ordinary. Service was friendly and attentive. I also had a nice glass of Boeger Tempranillo.

We had reservations for a Sunday night because it was our anniversary even though we have found this can be an off night in the restaurant business. We arrived early to enjoy a drink at the bar before dinner. As we approached the bar and sat down, it was several minutes before the bartendress acknowledged we were there as she was too focused on her boyfriend sitting next to us. Our meal server T. P. was inattentive as well. After our meals were delivered by another server, T.P. did not follow-up until I had almost finished my meal. Due to our corner seating we weren't able to flag down assistance without getting up. I was not happy as my baked potato had very little butter and barely a dollop of sour cream. Even though T.P. mentioned he knew it was our anniversary when he took our order, he did not volunteer that we could have ice cream on the house until after he inquired if we wanted to see the desert menu and I had to ask. This is a higher end establishment so it was very disappointing to learn management does not train staff in how to provide a higher quality experience to their quests.

Great food, great service. We sat outside and enjoyed the patio with it's water features and plants all around.

Went there for a special event and was very happy I did. Our server made some great recommendations for a starter, entree and dessert, all were delicious. The portions were enough to give us a take home snack for the next day.

Went there for our fortieth anniversary, had a great time.. the service and the dinner were great.

Service was outstanding. Seriously, it was the best, not one of the best—THE best, meal I've ever had in a restaurant.

We are regulars at Independence Restaurant. The food,service and atmosphere are perfect! You are greeted by a very friendly hostess with a smile and she/he takes us to our table. We always reserve a table . The waiter greets us and brings us water and ask if we would like something to drink or appetizers. We order our dinner . The water person refills our glasses . The waiter always checks on us to see how everything is and if we need anything. You have a nice selection of dinners to choose from. All delicious. It's the BEST restaurant in Placerville! The lemon caper salmon is the very best!

We ordered burgers and the buns were very dry. The beef was very good. We wanted a rose wine with lunch and the waitress said they had a new rose but did not tell us the price. It turned out to be $18.00 a glass and it was $56.00 for rose!

The food was fantastic, as it always is. I think it gets better every time we eat here. The prices have increased, so it is a bit spendy, but the quality of food and great service is worth the added price.

Fantastic food and service. The craft cocktails were really fun and creative. One of the best filets I've had and if you like spicy, order the prawns to start. I don't usually eat shrimp, but these were amazing! Out whole party was impressed.

Lovely restaurant! food excellent and great presentation. Will return. A GEM when there are so few great restaurants in the area.

Our family visited Independent restaurant for lunch while traveling back from Tahoe to San Francisco Bay Area. It exceeded our expectations! Service is great, food is crazy delicious. It was 95F outside, and we still chose patio as we were dining with our dogs. And guess what, patio has a separate AC and it was really comfortable even in that hot weather. The dishes were unique and beautiful. We ordered tuna tartar, chicken skewers and kids ordered burgers and fries. Everything was super fresh and delicious. Bloody Mary - perfect! Not too salty, not too spicy, just as it should be in a perfect world. Will definitely visit this place again.
