“A Placerville institution, is Sweetie Pies.This cute spot occupies a large Victorian on busy Main St. Your fun meal begins when you walk in the door and a friendly server asks if you would like a mug for coffee: it is self-serve.You will be guided to one of several clean, attractively decorated rooms to be seated. Their large menu has many familiar breakfast and lunch items plus a few surprises.This busy restaurant has many people show up just for their wonderful pastries, especially their cinnamon rolls, and some enjoy them on their outside patio.Oh! And did I mention outstanding pie?”

“I started going here years ago and the food is always good and the staff is friendly and helpful. There are tons of options to choose from and I've never had a problem with the food or service. I believe Iced Tea isn't on the menu, but is available. While they are busy during meal hours, there is rarely a wait and usually a relatively close space for parking. The restaurant is relatively clean and nice, except some common maintenance issues. The two things I noted, without looking very hard, was the booth seats needed reupholstered (they were repaired with patches) and the restroom door needed a metal guard to protect the paint from greasy hands and associated scrubbing with cleaners to get the grease off. Both issues are quite common in the restaurant world, but fixing them would increase the ambiance.Vegetarian options: Unlike many Chinese restaurants that have "vegetable" dishes, this one's menu lists "vegetarian" dishes. I'll admit, I haven't asked how they define that, since some might use non-vegetarian bases, stocks, or flavors. Also, unlike purist kitchens with divided areas and separate utensils to prevent cross-contamination, I'm sure this one has that risk. If you have severe allergies or require strict adherence to a dietary restriction, I'd avoid restaurants that serve other foods, or request the extra care in the back (and tip enough to make it worth their while) and hope for the best.Parking: Busy parking lot, but, even during busy hours, there usually is parking that isn't out of the way.”

“Little rather dingy hole in the wall with overpriced food, attitude waitress and higher prices. Our of three meals, o e was out of this world (pistachio shrimp pasta), one was ok (pasta del mer) and one was so bland it almost seemed the chef did it in purpose (some rigatoni with ricotta cheese and basically nothing else). The bread is perfection. For some reason the server did not like one of our party and gave her attitude (it was really weird). The pistachio dish is worth the price. The other one was definitely something we should have sent back and risked upsetting the cook. The back room is loud and had to have a conversation. Prob better on the patio. Cool lil hole in the wall.”

“Not a review of the food, which is fantastic by the way.. On my recent visit for Tuesday special pizza. I witnessed the manager (assuming) going over recent negative reviews. Done in a constructive and educational way to inspire the young employees to improve service. Also witnessed mentorship and willingness to teach. We need more of this in todays world. Thank you Pizza Factory! Refreshing to see and inspiring. . And .. thank you for affordable options on Tuesdays for Dad to make dinner :) Whoever is running the shop around 4 on a Tuesday, thank you for employing so many of our new generation of workers and setting an example of good leadership.”

“Had a terrific lunch experience with my wife at Hog Wild B-BQ. Planned a nice drive up to Placerville to visit my old home town. Started at Hog Wild for lunch. The owner greeted us a coached us through the meal and a la cart options. Our order was up quickly and we enjoyed our meals and the different dipping sauces. A great destination option for lunch and wevwill definitely be back to try other menu offerings. Great value prices for what you get.”

“This is my new favorite burger place in Placerville. The food is always home cooked and delicious. The serving portions are beyond fair and the prices are fair for the taste and size. It’s expensive anywhere you go to eat out now so if I’m going to spend money eating out, I’d happily give it to Tom’s Burgers. “Don't judge this restaurant based on location. We missed the turn because of the construction and not being able to tell it was open. We turned around and happy we did!! It's an older place, but I felt like I was paying for top-notch food and service, not pretty seats. We had extremely fresh Tuna, the staff educated us on the types of cuts we were getting and just made us feel like we were best friends. Next time we have sushi it will be there”

We found The Greenhouse Cafe tucked way back in a shopping mall. “The strawberry rhubarb pie is amazing. One of my favorites and hard to find. We by stopped Friday to pick up desserts and went back Sunday for lunch and more dessert. Their vegetable soup was delicious, fresh and tasty and so were the fish and chips My wife had the Fire burger which was so good! The potato salad on the side was a very small serving but very yummy. I will ask for that instead of fries next time.”

Everything delicious. Crab dip full of crab (a little spicy and a little the salty side). Fries with the sandwich come in a cute fry basket. Wedge salad was a generous portion and the server helped me pack it up to take the second half home along with dressing to go. Would highly recommend!”

“A beautiful restaurant in downtown Placerville, California. Great atmosphere, excellent service and, for the most part, really good food. The one-star deduction is because I think that a great Mexican restaurant should have great salsa. Cascada's salsa is really bland with zero spice. Tip: if you ask, they will provide some habanero sauce that you can add to the salsa. Careful ... it's really hot, but it does improve the salsa.”

Never once have I had a bad meal and the staff are all friendly and ready to serve. The chefs practically know mine and my wife's order the second we walk in the door. Unfortunately, it was lunch rush time which you can tell the were overwhelmed. They messed up our order and didn’t give us one fry and nuggets. They have flushable restrooms, a huge parking lot, all the apples you can possibly eat on a lifetime, friendly folks etc. But the real star is the amazing caramel apple shake. I will admit I am generally terrified of calories, so I stay away from shakes. HOWEVER, I will down that shake in 5 minutes without a single care. It's just perfect. I look forward to spending more time here soon!”
