They automatically tack on a 5% BOH charge. Not impressed. If your BOH staff aren't making the money, they deserve, don't as us to pay. That's your job as the owners. If you feel they need more money, put it in the prices you charge and make sure you give it to them. Never surprise your patrons with a non-negotiable charge presented to them at the end of an otherwise very nice dinner out. As for the next question, would I recommend to friends? I have a tough time with what to mark. Probably, but I will warn them of poor management policies.

Salad was good, pasta dinners were average. They seated us with one menu and said they were short but the restaurant was not full, I was never brought a menu. Our waitress could not find a knife for our dinner so she brought out one giant chefs knife. It gets VERY loud inside, even before live music. Overall I thought it was average, which is disappointing considering everything I have heard.

This is Placerville, not San Francisco, so expectation for ambiance should not be 5 star but this was a very good experience, food and service top notch, priced very well for the quality you receive. I highly recommend this Place.

This is a local place but it definitely needs work. Two of our four people had drinks from the bar, an Old Fashioned and a Gin & Tonic. The G&T tasted like Sprite with a little lime in it and the O.F. was simply horrible. The mushroom risotto with chicken was really good and a huge portion. The linguine with clams was good, but a very small portion with not enough clams. The other two got the short rib, which was "just ok at best". The Chianti wine was the worst we've ever had in an Italian restaurant and the server did not pour a little for it to be tasted first, just poured all for drinking. It was not the same Chianti that was listed on the menu. Sorry, but we won't be back.

Terrible service. 6 pm reservation by 8:20 we had complimentary bread and an appetizer. Never actually got our entrees we walked out. If you have 3-4 hours for dinner then this is your place!

This is the best Italian restaurant around. Normally we go to Roseville location. We tried placerville this time and I can say i will most likely only go to placerville location anymore. Great service. Great food.

First time there and it was amazing. Wine down Wednesday was an awesome value. The food was sooo good (we got the Boscaiola & the Porchetta e Cipolla), & Heather our server was the best. Definately will be going back. Thank You Heather, You were amazing : )

We loved the food and our server...Heather was darling! So accomodating and happy! The food was VERY good. We will try the Rosevlle next! PS...the cocktails were good...but the Vodka drinks because you use the ‘rice' type...were deinitely noticable. We do prefer the real stuff. Still good though!

This is a poor review because the restaurant was closed. I made the reservation, drove 30 miles to get there just to find out it was closed due to snow. It would have been nice if the reservations could not be made so I didn't waste my time and 60 miles of driving and gas to get there. I was very put out by the whole experience. I have heard the food is wonderful but I won't make that trip again.

My husband and I ordered the mushroom pasta and braised pork with polenta. The meal was delicious and the servings were more than adequate for the price ($ less than 20/plate each). The wait staff was appropriately attentative. As in the past our only complain had been the noise level; this is still our only complaint. Our reservation was for 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon. We were the only customers when we arrived. The restaurant was noisy throughout our meal. The customoers were not causing the noise, it was the staff talking very loudly with each other, the kitchen staff, and other staff in the bar. In addition, the design of the dining room contributes to the noise level as all surfaces are hard (floors, walls, ceiling), with no decorating (rugs, wall and ceiling hangings, upholstered furniture), to soften or interrupt the echoing voices. We will still eat at The Place as the food and service are excellent. Next time we will try to sit somewhere not in a direct line from the kitchen to the bar.

I have been a fan of this restaurant even before their relocation to the new restaurant. Food and service always good. We had a last minute addition to our party and it was impossible to change the reservation through OpenTable and the app gave us the run-a-round. In the end we presented with the additional guest and "The Place" accommodated us and gave us a larger table with no wait. This is a very good restaurant, which is rare for our neck of the woods (Placerville). Our hiddent treasure.

First time customers. My wife loved all the gluten-free options, we were able to finally go to a restaurant that had plenty of options for her. She loved her pasta dish and I loved the fresh pizza from the brick oven. We will definitely go again. Staff was friendly and professional, the place was bright, new and clean.

Great food but kitchen seems to be short staffed as the wait for food and desserts were taking way longer than normal. Pizza was very tasty, would prefer homemade tagliatelle pasta to be slightly thicker but still good, meatballs are flavorful but a bit too mushy for my taste. Overall we would definitely go back.

We had dinner here on a stormy Saturday night. The place was packed and our server warned us up front that the wait for food would be fairly long. We chose to stay, and I'm glad we did. Food was fantastic. There was a big party taking up half the restaurant, so it was a bit loud, but not unbearable. Wait staff were all HUSTLING. The house made focaccia bread was to die for, and our waitress comped us an extra couple glasses of wine due to the wait. And again, the food was great!
