Although this was not our first time dining at Smith Flat House, it was the first time we were seated outside. The patio was spacious and lively at our 6:30pm reservation time.
We started with a bottle of the house Pinot noir, which was from the Russian river area. We shared the scallop and pork belly appetizer, which was a very good combination of flavors complimented by a wonderful sauce. One scallop and one piece of pork, but it ended up being plenty.
For entrees, we shared the Steak Salad and the braised Rack of Lamb. As for the salad, I opted for blue cheese dressing and steak medallions medium rare. The salad had lots of amazing assorted garden vegetables and was very good. The lamb was…Amazing!! I would typically never order lamb. My previous lamb experiences involved “gameyness” and chewy, underwhelming experiences. Not here! This generous portion of meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. My only regret was eating too much of the amazing home baked bread before dinner, which caused me to be too full to keep eating the lamb.
Against our better judgement, we ordered dessert despite being full from dinner. We ordered the peach cobbler, which was served with vanilla ice cream and a dollop of whipped cream on the side. Despite being stuffed, we ate the entire cobbler and ice cream because it was so good.
As for the service, we had Shelby taking care of us. Her personality and sense of humor are great. She always makes the experience great. My only criticism of the experience was that we originally planned to order a bottle of Chardonnay, but they were completely sold out. However, once we decided on lamb, the Pinot noir was a better choice, anyway.
Bottom line: We have had only great experiences at Smith Flat House. This place is a great local treasure. I recommend giving them a try.

One of the areas' best restaurants. Great food excellent service. Large and beautiful outdoor patio seating, and a historic stone cellar dining room with a real well from the 19th century. Loads of history, this was a pony express stop and has been running in some format over 150 years. Also Great live music selected nights. A favorite for weddings and large events.

First time here for brunch, and we were super excited to try it out.

The atmosphere is definitely incredible. Charming and comfortable.

We arrived and were seated at 12:46pm. I was excited to try their brunch, but they didn't come by our table for anything until after 1pm and they'd stopped serving brunch.

No problem. I had a backup. I ordered the sourdough bread basket with the tomato butter. Yeah, no. Apparently that's a misprint on their lunch menu, and they didn't have any bread baked.

Fine. I ordered the Caesar salad. But the romaine lettuce was old and slimy, and I found a hair in it.

Yes, technically the salad was still edible, but if I'm going to a nicer place I have higher expectations.

Partner ordered the jalapeño burger and fries. The burger was fine, nothing special, but the fries were oily and floppy. DEFINITELY not worth $24, I can get a better burger at Carl's Jr. for half the price.

Lady at the table next to us that had a dog in a stroller that barked anytime anyone got close.

Will say, server was kind throughout, and removed our drinks from the tab. But the bill still came to about $50 before tip. I don't know how the $24 burger and $12 salad comes to $50, but whatever.

Really disappointed in our overall experience and in the quality of the food. If you want to market yourself as a more upscale experience, then you need to follow through.

Odd place. I went to see my friend's band play. All seating in the courtyard. No bar to get a drink and just enjoy the music. Had to put my name in for a table.
Fortunately, after a while, the hostess (didn't get her name) was extremely kind and sent the bartender out to get a drink for me. Bartender made a good Manhattan.
When I did get seated, Maria was awesome and the food was good. Loved the wedge salad. Crab cakes were a bit dry, but still good.

Maria and the Smith Flat House team did a perfect job wi the our very special private event in one of their rooms. Maria, our Event Planner, was a delight and ensured every detail including the menu, bar, decorations, seating, PA system and colors were perfect for our event. The food was amazing and our event was spectacular. Thank you!!! My highest recommendation to host special events at Smith Flat House.. also to come enjoy it for a meal

Absolutely the best Top Serlon steak by far! The roasted tomato butter and puree sauce was magical and truly a meal experience! Thank you so much!

When I went, there was an event going on inside the restaurant, so all the seating was outdoors. This actually turned out to be amazing as the weather was perfect and my reservation was at 7:15 in June. I dined on filet mignon with prawns and a side of roasted garlic mashers with citrus thyme asparagus and ate while dusk slowly settled in. The service was impeccable, the food excellent quality, and the grounds beautiful. Great experience. Be sure to make reservations, especially on weekends, as the place fills up.

We were accommodated for a Mother's Day event without a reservation.
It was very kind of them to go out of their way
When we experienced the fragrant, welcoming vibe in the outside garden atmosphere, the amazing food, and exceptional service, I was even more appreciative! As busy as they were, the staff treated every guest as if they were the only customer. The prices were very reasonable!

'25/3 1st time customer:
-- Off the beaten trail in quiet, mining-era named town & building--complete with original structure walls & mine shafts. VERY worth the trip for just that experience alone stepping into the past over 100 years [note: getting to the lower dining/mines area requires navigating steep stairwell down & back.]
-- Lots of historic photos on historic walls.
-- Large, inviting, modern outdoor seating area.
-- Decent menu. Yes bars upstairs & down, but no hard liquor license.

Enjoyed fabulous food at the wine paring dinner, small portions but delicious. It was just two of us, however we were charged 20% automatic large party gratuity. Seems inappropriate as we were just two in a larger group who all paid $90 per person.
Wine pour was skimpy, if Sierra Vista wanted wine club members they should have been more generous with the wine.

Pizza was overcooked. Service slow.

We went for our daughters wedding. The food was ok, I did expect better. But they were able to do 1 vegan dish on the fly for a guest and I thought that was very kind of them. The place is beautiful, romantic, and very clean. Loved it. The waiters were nice and the cheesecake was ahhmazing!! I would go again.

We had our wedding and rehearsal dinner here and it was absolutely perfect. The venue was beautiful, with the most lovely decorations. The food was delicious, all of our guests left feeling full and happy. Mason and Shelby did a great job making all of our dreams come true. 10/10 would recommend for a simple dinner or a full on event.
