Incredible! Location is beautiful and totally worth the windy and breathtaking drive into the Sierra Foothills. Customer service is top notch with a welcoming staff attentive to make sure you have the best dining experience. The food is amazing! We loved the smash burger and pulled pork with homemade bbq sauce. Family friendly environment. We can’t wait to come back to try more things off their menu!

Great food, all prepared fresh. Get in early for the specials, the regular menu is tasty and all food is consistently great! Best burger and the best French fries ever! Herbed tea is special, and the slaw is a special recipe. Food comes out quickly and hot! And the view from the patio is amazing any time of day. Definitely worth the drive from town for a special meal.

Gorgeous views with amazing food. Not like any other diner, they pay attention to the food and make it well. The veggie scramble was just right and they accommodated us when they ran out of pasta with an off the menu chicken sandwich that was to die for. Just amazing

Lacking flavor on all fronts. One of my the worst pulled porks I've ever had and there was only a few things to choose from. Love eating on the lake and the server Wendy is always nice. But the food was awful. Also only open two days of the week. Should have someone else get in there

If you’re looking for an hidden gem away from the Riffraff of the city this is the place. My family and I were pleasantly surprised by Smoke on the water. They have excellent food and service! Matt and his team produced one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! The carnitas tacos were also excellent. You can tell they don’t take short cuts when it comes to choosing high quality ingredients. Would highly recommend and to top it all off the views are divine.
Kid-friendliness: Kid and dog friendly with lots of outdoor seating.

We had the Smash Buger with fries, Grilled Brie sandwich with slaw & a Ceaser salad. We shared plates, the ingredients seemed to be of high quality. We were impressed with the presentation & how quickly it came out. The food did not disappoint. Highly recommend if you are in the north most part of Apple Hill, on your way to Tahoe, want a day or even half day trip, this is a fun idea.
For now the owners are testing things out with a petite menu, service is Saturday 11 to 5 Sunday 9 to 4. Future plans to expand menu, hours & outdoor features. Dog friendly.
It's off the beaten path & well worth it! Beautiful winding roads and over a one lane bridge, then pull into the restaurant and its glassy lake (reservoir).

We come up to our parents house every couple weeks here on rock creek, and it’s always so nice having something close and local. Staff here are amazing and will treat you like family. Chef cooks great food if you want to try something new please support our local restaurant!
