Apple Hill hosts dozens of quaint little farms with such charming hospitality. Smokey Ridge is NOT one of them!!! The owner was the single rudest person I've ever encountered in Apple Hill. She made a huge scene because I took photo of friends in the Smokey Ridge parking lot!
We went up the street to Rucksack winery where we were welcomed with open arms and treated with respect and the owner there actually showed us the best places on their property for a good picture. We also spent hundreds of dollars at Rucksack. Smokey Ridge needs to take lessons from their friendly neighbors! Maybe that's why nobody was there at Smokey Ridge!
One of the few places you can pick fresh chestnuts!!If you decide to search for chestnuts, make sure you wear appropriate footwear. The chestnuts shells are very prickly! We mainly come for the chestnuts but they also have a wide selection of apples and wines for tasting.Staff is always friendly and eager to help with anything you might need. We've been coming to this ranch for over 5 years now and they never disappoint!!
Super nice staff, I never saw a Jonathan Apple before because i was from the east coast and when i mentioned this they immediately offered me one for free to try and see if i liked with 0 pressure or expectations to buy anything. Highly recommend.
One of the kindest and most peaceful places. Kirk is so friendly and caring. Off season wine tasting. Only fresh apples unlike the big places during the fall. Delicious red wines. Love the late harvest red.
Cute little wine tasting place...we stopped for lunch here and also tasted their wine and purchased a bottle... also had their lavender sangria...delish!
My mom and I went to a wreath-making event at Smokey Ridge Ranch. It was dark so we couldn’t really see beyond the barn that the event was in, but Sara, the owner, was so very pleasant and friendly. The wines were delicious. Bring your coat if you come in the winter!! Apparently this is the only place in the area that grows their own chestnuts, and you can come gather them yourself if you come on a Friday or Saturday morning in October. We missed the season this year but are going to make it a family event next year!
So fun! We did the wreath making, which came with wine and dinner, and it was FABULOUS. Thanks Sarah and Gina! ?
An underrated spot on Apple Hill and one of our favorites! They offer a couple of diff things to do such as chestnut picking and U-pick flowers. Definitely worth the stop. And the plus is no waiting in ridiculous lines just to park like some other spots.
Tomato basil jam and caramel apple spread are amazing!! Great dried flowers and you can pick chestnuts! Very cute wobbly barn housing their store
Amazing place! Had a great time.

We went to do a wine tasting at Smokey Ridge. They are $5 for four tastings and you choose one of two menus. (The picture shows two tastings + a glass of cider =$15). Staff was very sweet. We liked the tempranillo the most, some of the others were not to our taste, but may be to the tastes of others. They are also selling some beautiful flowers (inexpensively), jam, a mustard, and apple butter.
wonderful experience picking apples, beautiful farm and friendly staff. You can pick your own apples and if you get tired complete your box with the bins inside the entry building, they also provide you with a fruit picker. Friendly staff, and other apple related products as jam for sale
Very friendly, u-pick apples, estate wines and cider and u-pick chestnuts!
Nice people and we really enjoyed their wines. Beautiful view!
Good wine. A bit pricey, but the wine is good.
