Its a ok place

My sister and I had such a great experience here. Everything we tried (which is most everything) was delicous and we didn't regret anything we tried. Diana and Emily were both amazing and so helpful, making the experience so amazing. I highly recommend giving this place a try if you're heading that way

They have a $5 for the taste of 3 different wine, which is also a very decent choice for those who already visited a bunch of other wineries to stop by. The best wine for me is the Tempranillo.

My wife and I have been going to Starfield for years now and today we had the opportunity to be served by Savannah. Coming from someone who is working his way through WSET training, Savannah has a great depth of knowledge both of the varietals that she's serving and the production that went into creating the wine. She's a pleasure to learn from and I look forward to visiting the winery again soon.

Fantastic wines, great views and awesome staff. Ask for Emily or Savannah. The Aglianico wine is amazing.

The wine is good and the property is nice, but it’s in your best interest to make a reservation (despite it being an antiquated process of emails and phone calls). That way someone can explain the exhausting amount of rules regarding all the different seating areas.

- party more than 6? can’t do a tasting, can only sit for lunch with glasses of wine.
- party of 2 trying to get a table at the pavilion? nope, “we only seat parties of exactly 4 & 6”
- party of 10 at the pavilion? nope, “we can’t separate you into two tables. Your only option is to purchase a bottle and sit somewhere on the property”

Furthermore, member or nonmember, if you show up without a reservation, especially on the weekday, you will be treated as a burden. It’s very unwelcoming. You could show up to a completely empty tasting room and they’ll still tell you, “I’m not sure if we have space, but we might be able to squeeze you in…ill just have to check if the person pouring can agree to take you.”

Just do yourself a favor and make that reservation, so you know what seating “experience” you’re getting, and the staff with be pleasant since you didn’t surprise them with your walk-in.

Great winery and venue. The staff are always helpful snd professional. Become a member here, the wine is worth it and the perks are far more luxurious than what you pay for.

Came all the way from Las Vegas for the Nevada Days at Apple Hill. My daughter's first wine tasting. Anna was a treat! So patient and informative and brought different wines for my daughter and grandmother, who liked sweet, versus me since I prefer dry reds. A gorgeous setting and delightful wines.

The charcuterie board paired with the red tasting and the white tasting in their outdoor seating area overlooking the area made for a perfect afternoon. Good wine, good cheese, a great walk around the ponds, and excellent service 5/5 stars!

Totally inattentive from the outset, poor service and aside from some charcuterie options, no real food, contrary to what was advertised. Not a single one of their staff attempted to seat us or direct us. We sat down with the hope that someone would come help us only to have one of the staff tell my husband that my children and I couldn’t sit there without an effort to actually guide us. I then went to the front desk to attempt to order some food and wine and the woman said she would get to me next and instead next turned to a young white couple. (I’m middle eastern). Not sure if there is overt racism here but put us off entirely and decided we would spend our hard earned money elsewhere).

Booking experience 2/5
Experience on property 4.5/5

The way Starfield asks guests to book a table and the fact that they require reservations for tasting is very offputting- Placerville isn't Napa. You can only submit a form online, and then they call you back. Tastings must be paid for over the phone, no secure online portal to pay is available. Compared to other wineries in the area- this isn't the norm, my experience prior to visiting was pretty terrible and cumbersome.

They've only recently allowed walk-ins for lunch service, but you CANNOT stay at the same table for lunch you are at if you have a tasting booked and want to stay for lunch. It's unnecessarily complicated for visitors.

They ARE dog friendly, which is a bonus if you're visiting the area with dogs.

Our wine tasting hostess was fantastic and knew the wines very well. The food offered for purchase during tasting was delicious.

It's still really hard to get over the fact that Starfield's booking experience prior to arrival makes you never want to come back.

really nice experience doing the wine tasting, ended up buying 6 bottles of various wines, certainly not the cheapest but super tasty and great quality wines

This is just a beautiful place and very well managed. The restaurant meals are fantastic. The wine is great and the setting can’t be beat.

Never been to the winery, but I had the pleasure of trying this delightful white wine because my friend Maggie loves it and she was entertaining me at her house. Pleasantly light and refreshing, this white wine paired perfectly woth a good evening with friends and mild heat.

While everything is gorgeous and top quality I’m highly disappointed in the ability to serve and welcome the community into their tasting room. As posted outside, they list all the services they provide, but guarantee none will be provided. We were kindly greeted by a tasting room staff member, and a room completely void of life. We asked to do a tasting but were denied because we didn’t have a reservation because they were “completely booked.” We chose to take our chances with a bottle of wine and try to enjoy the surroundings.
