I have nothing but great things to say about The Shack—it’s truly a neighborhood gem.
1. The food is incredible—hands down the best burger in town. I grew up in the area and my family has been coming here for 20+ years, and it’s never disappointed.
2. Karaoke on Fridays is always such a blast and one of my favorite ways to spend a night out.
Recently, I decided to host a 30th birthday party here, and it was honestly the best decision I could have made. Joey and April were amazing to work with—so helpful and accommodating from start to finish. We already knew the food and drinks would be top-notch, but the staff went above and beyond and truly exceeded our expectations.
We had a live band inside, April customized their digital signage with the birthday boys’ photos, and we were even able to decorate early. The team was super flexible—they let us in before opening to set up, but during business hours we made sure to step aside so the restaurant could continue to run smoothly.
After the band wrapped up, they helped us seamlessly transition into karaoke, which made the night even more fun.
The whole experience felt personalized, well-coordinated, and full of energy. On top of everything, it was surprisingly affordable for such a great venue right by the beach.
I may be biased, but this was one of the best parties we’ve been to in a long time, and The Shack played a huge part in making it so special.

Came to this area for vacation and we had burgers at the shack. It’s walking distance to the beach and the employees are pretty friendly. It must be very popular with locals

I enjoy a good hamburger. The shack burger is delicious. It comes with a mild hot sausage link split grilled on it with all the toppings. They have great zucchini fries, too. This is a great spot for a good lunch if you're in the area.

After a day at Playa Del Rey beach, we walked over to The Shack for a quick dinner. The burgers were so good (even the kids agreed)! The pineapple burger and its teriyaki sauce was amazing. Will definitely be back!

DO NOT BELIEVE THE SHACKS GOOGLE REVIEW SCORE. It is outrageously inflated
Do NOT book your event at The Shack. I was ready to spend thousands on food and drinks for a special baby shower, and they treated me like I was a burden. April was rude, unresponsive, and ignored multiple requests—including my simple ask for a manager’s contact info. Weeks after confirming my event, they suddenly demanded a $1,000 reservation fee that went toward nothing, then tried to move my event time last-minute because “summer is busy.” Thankfully, I found a much better venue with amazing staff and food—unlike The Shack, which clearly doesn’t value its customers. There are plenty of laid-back beach spots that would actually be grateful for your business. Avoid this place.

Do not plan your event at The Shack. I was ready to spend thousands on food and drinks for a fun, relaxed baby shower — and they still treated me like a nuisance. April was flat-out rude, ignored multiple messages (including my request for a manager’s contact info), and made me feel like my event was an inconvenience. Then, out of nowhere, I was told I’d need to pay a $1,000 “reservation fee” — even though we had confirmed the event weeks ago. That fee didn’t go toward food, drinks, or service — just a random charge with no value. To top it off, they told me I had to move my shower an hour and a half earlier after my invites had gone out — because “summer is busy.” Thankfully, I’ve already found a better venue with great food, amazing staff, and actual professionalism.
Female cashier is rude if you're not american it seems.
