Kid-friendliness: My 8 year old daughter loves going to Back 40! Laid-back and fun environment for the whole family. Very accommodating, as we were delayed of our initial reservation time, but they called us to check-in while we were on our way, and they were able to seat us right away even though we were 30 minutes later than our expected arrival time.

First, shout out to Manny for being an awesome waiter. We had the 1/2 lbs Burger(Cooked Medium), Dinner mix plate(Pork Ribs, Beef Rib, Brisket) and the kids chicken tenders. All the smoked meats were tasty and easy to eat. The only downside of the mix plate is you only get 1 beef rib lol. The burger was cooked perfectly. My kids had a great time eating everything!!!

Post pandemic, the service amost everywhere has gone downhill, but Amanda on the bar side is amazing. Back 40 has always had good food but Amanda puts it over.

God bless you Back 40.My wife and I have two kids under 4 years of age and going out to eat is always a challenge. We’re always on the lookout for places we can enjoy where our kids can blend in and not ruin other people’s dinners. My threshold for a good night out is very low… somehow after debating for an hour where we could go that was also a little nicer for us we ended up at the Back 40.From the moment we walked in the service was out of this world. I don’t know why the host, the owner, and the wait staff were so attentive. It was honestly jarring when coming from places in Oakland. The host seating us made sure to have coloring pages and crayons on the table before we sat down. A small gesture that went a long way in my book. Our waiter made sure to have kid sized cups with tight lids immediately. Which helped us be better guests because our kids weren’t freaking out. Once again a small thing that most places don’t think about. They also had a section of booths with several other kids so we weren’t ruining anyone else’s night who didn’t want to be around rug rats. Love it. They also had a great kids menu. Love it. One of our kids had allergies and this place was great to give recommendations and know what was safe. Love it.Besides the kids they were very attentive with our needs and almost spooky fast with everything we requested. The food as always was so good. I got the Texan Trinity which was way too much food but I loved every bit of it and had plenty to bring home. Also the price was super reasonable for everything we got.Tonight could have been tough but instead it was a joy. For that I’m super grateful for the Back 40 for that.

Food not very impressed. Mac cheese not that good like 4/10. Beans 5/10. Beef rib with bbq sauce 6.5/10 without bbq 5/10 also under seasoned IMO...brisket inside parts dry and lack flavor outer parts more moist and juicy still lack flavor 5/10. Wanted to luv it as it as we were headed to different place and drove by and seen this spot look bomb.

The look of restaurant was nice and we went in hoping we found our new place for beef ribs. Service was unfriendly, no warm welcome by waitress and did the bare minimum. Food was on time and tasted fair but there was a rush to eat pay and leave by waitress. Clearly she did not want us there. Sad lunch on 30th wedding anniversary for us. Will never return
