Came with my son(5months) for a quick lunch. Got there about 40mins before closing. Right away you can tell this place is top notch. Everything tasted wonderful. I cannot wait to bring my boyfriend back for a dinner sometime.

This is the finest sushi restaurant I have ever been to. Their food is fresh and delicious. I’ve been coming here since 2008 and since my 1st visit have never been anywhere else. They are friendly and make you feel like family. I live in Vallejo CA and still travel to Pleasant Hill, CA for their food. Each time I have dined there I come out totally satisfied.

This is one of those places you cannot find just anywhere, Jo’s is more than just a restaurant it’s an experience with a family who genuinely have a passion for their profession. The food is delicately crafted with generous portions, the flavor profiles well thought out. The food here looks more like an art form than a simple product. Colorful, carefully arranged, and with wonderful flavor. But it’s hard not to see how much more this restaurant offers, as you’re greeted joyfully as you enter and exit by the whole family working together to assure a great experience with good service. Each member quickly goes about their job but manages to give a personal and friendly experience to each table. The building itself though small and tucked between larger businesses is in a peaceful and safe corner of The Valley. The interior decorated with items both symbolic and personal, from mementos of passed guests to heirlooms, showing humor and tradition all in one place. No matter where you look there is more to see.Make sure to take time to talk to Chef Honda and his family, so you can see the genuine joy they have interacting with guests. Because when you dine here that is what it feels like, being a guest in their home versus just another customer anywhere else.

My wife took me out for my birthday. I've only had sushi like once. So I just picked this place, so glad we did, had a excellent time and the food was wonderful.

Great local spot! You can tell a lot of the diners are regulars and/or friends of the owners. Everyone is very nice and attentive, and the sushi is fabulous. We got the dynamite, cooked scallop, caterpillar, and the veggie tempura. Paired with a delightful unfiltered sake. Highly recommend! Just note that the space is pretty small so not great for a huge group.

We just moved to the area and this was our first Japanese restaurant after moving over here. We really love Japanese food so we were really happy to find this place. The sashimi / tempura bento box was a really large serving, plenty for leftovers. I also ordered myself a saba shio dinner plate, which came with two large fillets. Both were tasty. I was really happy they it came with seaweed salads (usually I’ll order those as an appetizer). They also gave use a couple of these small dishes that were like croquettes with shrimp. Those were very tasty, and glad they offered a little sample on the house.I’ll definitely come back here again and bring friends when they’re over.

Good was good, but for people ran us over $450! I've been eating sushi my whole life. I used to frequent Tanuki bar on California, R.I.P.(New owners. Haven't tried.), which was owned by Ai-San who was Japanese and by far my favorite sushi chef of all time. Granted that I started eating in the 80s as a kid through the early 2010s+, I neve paid that much, even with 6 people and a lot of drinks. Inflation maybe? Idk. If give it another try though.

Whenever I try a sushi restaurant, I get the chef's choice sashimi or nigiri so I can get a general feel for it. The assorted selection of sashimi (Jo's choice) was incredible. During the space of an hour while I was there, 3 or 4 different parties of people came in to eat and say hi to Jo behind the bar. I could quickly tell that this place is special to a lot of people. The entire staff was great. I will definitely be back.
