Came with my wife because she is Malaysian. Noticed that they had vegan option right off the bat. Pretty pricey for the portion you get but it’s probably because it’s all imported which is expected. Taste is far from authentic Malaysian food in Malaysia. Considering there are other Malaysian restaurants in the Bay Area I would only come again if I was in there area. Wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. Staff are not very knowledgeable about the food and give a little pushback when you try to substitute things to make it vegan. Taste = 3/5 Service = 2/5 Price = 3/5
Wow, it's 1:07pm on 12.27.24.....we came all the way from Oakland visiting from Texas...and you guys are closed! Says open on the google... only a sign on the door....not good! Very disappointed 😞
Response to the owner 3:06pm: Thanks for your reply! Of course you are regular folks, totally understandable that you need time off too....maybe we'll catch you next time we are back in town. Enjoy your time off! Google has now updated the location to "temporarily closed"
Finally authentic halal Malaysian restaurants in the Bay Area!!!! Loved their Nasi Lemak and Mee Goerang. Also, they have Grass Jelly & Longan drink!

Rude girl behind the cash counter.
Short haired server lady was very sweet.
Roti was not fresh and oil in the roti tasted weird.

If you're planning to visit Curry Leaves in the Bay Area, I strongly recommend that you reconsider if you expect good service along with your meal. While the food was delicious and the portions generous—two people can easily enjoy a satisfying meal for around $60—my experience was marred by the unprofessional and rude behavior of the cashier.
When we asked for an adequate number of to-go boxes (six in total, given the small size of their boxes), the cashier was unaccommodating, giving us only two at a time. We had to repeatedly ask for more, and each time, she responded in a dismissive and unfriendly manner, even stating that the number we requested was "too many" and refusing to provide the remaining boxes. This lack of courtesy significantly detracted from what could have been an otherwise pleasant meal.
As a Malaysian who grew up enjoying this kind of cuisine, I was excited to visit, but unfortunately, the poor service means that we won’t be returning, despite traveling all the way from San Francisco to dine there. If you do decide to give Curry Leaves a try, I recommend managing expectations regarding customer service—while the food may meet your standards, the experience could leave you disappointed.

The Mee Goreng was really delicious and the Roti was freshly made. I do think the cleanliness could be improved. There was some leftover food on the chairs and some of the sharing plates we used looked a bit dirty.

The girl in the black hijab behind the cash counter is lifeless, has no smile, and doesn't know how to speak warmly with customers. She's the only reason I will never go back to this restaurant.

Over hyped Over priced. If must eat here, dine in, don’t do take out. This way if things go wrong you can complaint in person and hopefully they’ll fix it.
It maybe a rare find to have a Malaysian restaurant around this part of town, does not mean one should push review for greatness when it’s NOT! At best a mediocre hawker stall food that I would never repurchase from.
Ordered take out for Thursday lunch.
Mee Goreng Seafood- $16- got 3 shrimps, a sliver piece of squid, no eggs, hardly any greens and 5 stalks of bean sprout. Complete rip off since it looks nothing like their picture nor what’s stated on menu. I basically paid $5+ per shrimp with instant noodles.
Also got the Nasi Lemark $16 and Nasi Kandahar $16 for a 1/4 of a chicken (drumstick and thigh).
The chicken was on the dry side. Even though they didn’t add the egg that was suppose to go into my Mee Goreng. I got a bunch of egg shell pieces as garnishment in my food.

So authentic and delicious food!! Nasi Lemak with prawns and fried chicken were so good. And I tried their iced Malaysian coffee the best coffee so far! Perfect price for the potions. Definitely will come back.

Really good Malaysian restaurant. Good food and big quantity. Just FYI the Laksa soup is not the creamy laksa Singaporean soup. It’s a tangy fish based soup.
I highly recommend the Mee goreng.
Also wanted to add the owner is the sweetest. My friend wanted to try the Laksa but was unsure… he even gave her some of the broth to try.

This is my Malaysian family’s favorite Malaysian restaurant.
The food is delicious and authentic.
Jai is a passionate chef, frequently bringing new dishes to the menu and curating special dining events, like a recent AYCE Penang Hawker Food Fest.
On top of that, it’s incredible how he’s created a community spot for Malaysians and Singaporeans (some even driving from 4+ hours away for his food).
Some of my favorite dishes here over the years:
-Penang Assam Laksa (not to be confused with curry laksa)
-Char Koay Teow (fried noodles)
-Char Koay Kak (fried rice cubes)
-Belacan Fried Chicken
-Penang LoBak
-Roti Canai
Recommended dishes: Char Kuay Teow, Penang Asam Laksa, Assam Laksa, Roti Canai
