Hap’s Original Steakhouse is a solid choice if you’re looking for an old-school steakhouse vibe. The atmosphere is classic and inviting, perfect for a nostalgic dining experience. While the steaks aren’t extraordinary, they’re definitely satisfying and well-prepared. It’s not the kind of place that will blow you away with innovation, but if you’re in town and craving a hearty, reliable meal, Hap’s delivers. A good spot to enjoy a no-fuss, traditional steakhouse dinner.

Positives: the service was great
Negatives: the food was uninspiring and can be made better at home. The steak lacked flavor as if it was pan seared with nothing more than a pinch of salt. The party had a mix of steak cuts and they all came with different sauces half of which were kind of gross. Method of cooking the vegetables that came with a steak was terrible. The green beans were tough and hard.

The ahi tuna was boring and equally uninspiring. The accompanying vegetables are also poorly cooked. Anybody can cook this better at home.

Crabcakes were put on the table and nobody wanted a second one.

The mashed potatoes also didn’t get eaten because they were also equally uninspiring and where as basic as any home ec. student can make.

Yeah atmosphere the restaurant was OK but you can tell from the entrance that the thing was painted in the 90s. The bathroom seem to be outdated, the dining room and the back was too dark and we had to use our flashlights on our phones to see the menu.

All in all the places is outdated, the standards are too low, their methods of meal prep and cooking seem to be 30-40 years behind. The wine list was good but didn’t leave much room for affordable options. The items that were offered at a reasonable rate scored low and the items that did score well were way overpriced.

We had a terrible experience for the second time at Hap's Steakhouse in Pleasanton. Our steaks were not cooked as requested, arriving significantly undercooked. The chef was uncooperative, especially regarding our request to have sauce added to the steak. The overall mood set by the chef made us uncomfortable, making it difficult to consider sending the steaks back. Unfortunately, we don't think we'll be returning.

This place is old school cool.
The service is really as what you'd expect from a fine establishment. . They are attentive, and the food never fails to please the pallet.
They serve steak and seafood. People who want woke meals should keep walking past the place.
I give the restaurant 4 solid stars because they are consistent in all manners and end product.

Disappointing - I had the smoked bone-in ribeye, my wife had the lobster tail. Both were overcooked and tough. The server was inattentive. No plans to return.

4.5 The food is always excellent
? The waiter asked if we were celebrating a special occasion, yes we are. Nothing ever done nor mentioned by staff, okay fine. The young men that assist always say "ya" kinda annoying, vs yes or no problem or of course. We asked for our Horse radish sauce to go with our prime rib, which we ordered separately and when they boxed up order Togo leftover they didn't pack it after they said ya. Anyway, loved the specials of the day! Best salad I've had with all the fresh plums, pear & pecan & apples yum, love the Sautee spinach & always a fan of mushrooms! I feel like the booths seating should be redone, we each sat in a hole, each seat is sunk in. But it's clean & neat. Our did provide errors on our main dishes but no one in our party minded, it was just an error of what veggies are paired with the dishes. Broccolini VS Green Beans. Will return for take out.
