We stopped at Jim’s Country Style Restaurant in Pleasanton while driving from San Jose to Sacramento with our teen grandkids, and it turned out to be a great find just off I-680.

The restaurant has a warm, homey feel inside, with plenty of funny signs on the walls that set a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. They’re only open for breakfast and lunch, and the menu is packed with all the classics—biscuits and gravy, omelets, burgers, sandwiches, and more—alongside their hearty daily specials.

Our grandkids went straight for the pancakes, and they were huge, fluffy, and absolutely terrific. Alongside came scrambled eggs, thick-cut bacon, and sausage that was cooked perfectly—crispy on the outside yet juicy inside. My wife ordered the savory French toast with fried eggs and more of that crisp, meaty bacon, and she really enjoyed it.

I started with a bowl of chili. While flavorful, it was only lukewarm, the cheese on top didn’t melt, and it had more beans than I usually prefer. I’m a big chili fan and try it everywhere I go, so it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. On the other hand, I tried something completely new—the linguica sandwich. Served on a French roll with lettuce, tomato, mayo, thin-sliced red onions, and a pickle, this char-broiled sausage had a mildly spicy, smoky flavor that I found delicious. It was my first time trying linguica, and I’m glad I did.

The service was another highlight. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and the food came out quickly and piping hot.

Overall, Jim’s Country Style Restaurant makes for a great stop along I-680 if you’re looking for hearty, classic breakfast and lunch dishes in a casual, family-friendly setting. While the chili wasn’t my favorite, everything else we tried was delicious, and the atmosphere and service make it a place worth visiting again.

The service is great! Employees are nice. Portions are over the top! No one can eat that much and breakfast isn't something you can take home and it will taste good. Therefore, a lot of wasted food. Omelette's are overpriced as they charge you for every ingredient you choose. An omelette is supposed to have stuff in them hence the name omelette. Before you know it, you have a $30 omelette. All their food is overpriced. I had a black hair in mine. They replaced my food but truly should have given me a discount or my meal free. I was quiet about it so other patrons could not hear it when I easily could have made sure people heard. They definitely could have done better.

Outstanding service!. 20 motorcyclists showed up for a pre-ride breakfast yesterday. The crew handled us all very quickly and with great friendly attitudes.

Good local breakfast spot. Booths are great but if you get stuck at a table in the back room it's tight!! Friendly servers, good american breakfasts with big menu, served with large portions.
