The food was fresh, and even though we were a group of eight, there was no wait time. The staff was helpful and courteous. We ordered a variety of dosas each with fresh masalas. The chutneys and uthappam were delicious. I had the Mysore masala dosa with masala chaas, while my friends tried the idli and the special Mylapore dosa.

We had been planning on visiting this place for a while and got to do so only today.
The place was full and a 30 minute wait was what the staff told us. There were around 50 people already waiting and we got called in 30 min. The staff handled the crowd well and with a smile.
We get a table allocated and we preorder food and pick up your own water and wait for the food. And clean up after eating . No complaints here.
Considering the crowd and the number of customers the food came fast. I mean really fast and HOT.
The medu vadai was hot crisp and very tasty. Certainly the best ones I have had in the Bay Area. The chutney sambar was sufficient quantity and the tomato chutney needs special mention here. It was outstanding.
The sambar vadai too was hot and with adequate sambar.
Mini lunch was , actually sumptuous. Enough rice and accompaniments. All items were tasty .
The dosas were hot and crisp, the masala inside was just the right quantity and very tasty. With enough sambar and two chutneys it was excellent fare.
Overall a very good experience. The best South Indian food I have had in this part of the country.
If I have to “ complain” :
1. Sambar quantity can be reduced a bit and refill cups available so it’s not wasted.
2. Rice qty too can be reduced in thali with a refill available, if needed. Wastage can be eliminated in these times of shortage.
3. The spice levels in sambar and the tamarind rice maybe brought down a tad bit.
4. I would suggest a kids menu in place with some non spicy interesting items for kids. ( I recommend this because kids here are not used to our levels of spice)
5. I understand that to manage the crowd, pre ordering is in place. But I found majority of the people order more than can eat . Takeout becomes necessary. If table orders can be managed, people may order only on need basis and maybe some savings on takeout items can be made. Just my idea.
Last but not the least: coffee just transported me back to Chennai. Absolutely like what we get back home. Overall:
A quality culinary experience. Will definitely go again for dinner to taste the dinner menu.

I had an issue with my gift card, and Mr. Arivalagan at Mylapore went above and beyond to help me resolve it quickly and efficiently. Very professional, patient, and friendly throughout the process. Truly appreciate the excellent service!

Recent edit: I have to take 1 star because of the recent visit and the atrocity that they serve called samosa. They pretty much air fry old samosas, which sips oil in the middle and make them extremely oily.
The place has simple food, quite authentic and tasty. The chutneys are freshly made and the coconut one was my favorite. My wife got the idly, which she said was freshly made and tasted as it should be. I tried the masala dosa, which was moderately spiced, unlike some of the neighboring shops, which put unnecessary spices in everything.
The reason I gave a 4 star is because of the wait and the ambience of this place. I don’t think the food or the menu justify the 20 mins sitting wait and followed by the 20 more mins of wait for getting the food. The place is definitely hyped and once the hype settles down in a month or two, I will definitely visit it again.

I have been to the Mylapore location in Fremont, San Ramon and this location - Pleasanton.
Pleasanton’s is the worst by any measure. This place is bursting at its seams with the customers and over the past year, I noticed that the staff is becoming more and more arrogant.
I put us on the wait list yesterday. It told me 15 minutes wait - fantastic. I reach there and find out that we are the 4th on the list. Even better .. that’s when things started going downhill. Through families were seated and I assumed we’d be next. Hell no! We were the 4th on the list for table of two. There were 15 people entries ahead of us. I showed them a screen shot of my reservation and I was told that they sent me a message but I did not respond so I went down on the list. I didn’t get the message. I showed him my text log. The front desk person arrogantly showed me a message on his screen which supposedly was sent to me .. sent to me where? He refused to entertain any further conversation.
I like their food, but not enough to tolerate the arrogance. We left.

I would not recommend to go for this restaurant.i just now happen to stop by and when i got in the waiter said he cannot accommodate the reservation I see the restaurant. Lose at 10pm it is still 830pm he say no. Also I requested him he responds back to loud and declining tone. I understand the restaurant is busy but reply to customer should not show that and do not give Dia respect reply instead with simile of he would have replied with polite tone that should have been good enough.

Overall the food was great. Didn't enjoy the benne dosa. Everything else definitely recommend. Service was great as well. Would recommend if you are looking for a South Indian restaurant. They provide refill of the green and red chutney.

I want to express my appreciation for the warm welcome I received upon arriving at the restaurant from person name RAKESH.
Rakesh was attentive, professional, and made sure we felt comfortable right away. From greeting me with a genuine smile to efficiently managing my reservation, the service set a positive tone for the entire dining experience. It’s clear that they take pride in ensuring every guest is well taken care of. No double food was excellent. Thank you for your excellent hospitality and food—I look forward to returning soon.
