I only got 4 food items so I can't say for everything. (Which is why 4 stars) if I had tried more food I would've given it 5 stars. I had Tuna Tacos which were flavourful and very tasty. The tacos were crunchy and the tuna was fabulous. It was topped with sauce (don't know what kind but very delicious) and cilantro which smelled wonderful. The calamari was something I've enjoyed the most. It smelled wonderful and the sauce (don't know what kind) was amazing. The banana lava cake was just as you'd imagine and the strawberry butter cake was baked perfectly. I HIGHLY recommend attending dinner here if you like to feel like royalty.

We ordered the baby back ribs for dinner. They were the toughest ribs I have ever been served. I have never had ribs that the meat didn't fall off the bone. We both had a lot of difficulty in just trying to cut them apart. I had to hold his plate still while he tried to saw through them. He held my plate and, truthfully, I was too worn out to try to cut the meat off the bone. We were both extremely disappointed with the meal and probably will never be back. The noise level was so high that we couldn't hear each other talk. Better acoustics and a better chef would help you out tremendously.
The food was horrible, overpriced. I am not a picky diner, but for me to say it was the worst food I've experienced — my friends will say “it must be that bad”! They need to stop being pretentious making their menu sound so sophisticated - stick to the basics. If they want some American Fusion to mix other ethnic food, they need to make sure they have some of the combining sauce to it. Tacos was dry, no sauce whatsoever, presentation of the food was like dining in a school cafeteria. Appetizers were like taken off a frozen aisle section of a grocery and serve to you. Food not fresh - overrated- over priced. They need to rethink their menu, maybe change their chef and revamp the kitchen crew.
This is a great, new addition to the downtown Pleasanton dining experience. The newly-updated Pleasanton Hotel is beautifully done, maintaining the grand, old excellence of the building, but significantly updating the kitchen, the banquet rooms, and the details of the place. We ate outside in the very pleasant patio area. The service was good, and the food was excellent. We started with the charcuterie and cheese platter which was very nice. I had lamb shank, which could not have been more perfect. Several patrons eating outside (including us) had problems with bees. I watched one valiant woman struggle with eating a burger with one hand while swatting bees away with the other. It was intrusive enough for us to ask them to move us to a table inside. Minor difficulty. Didn't spoil the evening at all.
We recently ate on the patio during a Saturday night music event and had a great time. Food was very good which plenty of pub type menu choices. Very complete beer and wine list with many local options. Patio was packed and the servers worked their tales off to get the food and drink out in a timely manner. We'll be back especially for music on the patio. Great setting great in a summer evening
I went here with my daughter & son-in-law during my last visit. It does have a little different menu, but we all enjoyed our choices. We started with the homemade chips & onion dip. So Good !! I had the fish & chips, ribs & oxtail french dip. The waitstaff was very pleasant & attentive. I will certainly be back on my next trip to Pleasanton!
I like this place, and I come here often. Just a few things off this morning. Granted, it was Mother's Day so it was super busy for brunch. Perhaps a bit short-staffed? The coffee had run out; I had to tell someone; no one was watching it. . We had to wait for plates to wash at one point, and there was a hair in the horseradish, which I brought to the carver's attention. Food was good as well as the service.
Given that the restaurant is fairly new, I'm willing to accommodate a couple of shortcomings that will hopefully be addressed as the team adjusts to working together. The service was slow and uncoordinated: appetizers arrived in a few deliveries many minutes apart, servers rushed off before we could complete orders, cutlery that was needed for eating was removed and we never could get the attention of anyone to replace it, making it necessary to take knives and forks from another table. The food was mostly very good, but the Thai Red Curry Chicken Tacos did not have any Thai or red curry flavor. Again, the Martini was good, but a bit watery, so perhaps it was left on the ice too long. I will go again because I love the Hotel and I think the restaurant shows promise, especially since both Eddie Papa's and Lily's are very good!
The Pleasanton Hotel has two distinct dining options: The Clubhouse Bar and Grill (Casual--great food) and Lilly's (Upscale and elevated!). Yesterday evening our group of six enjoyed an extended dinner at Lilly's that was sensational. Our server (Kimberlee) was so gracious and charming we really appreciated her attentiveness, wine expertise etc.. We brought our own wine but she also made some additional suggestions that were very good. The food --probably the best we have had in Pleasanton. Chef Ryan is a welcome addition to Pleasanton's downtown restaurant scene. All of our dishes right through to dessert (and port) were so delicious. I will definitely be back for an encore dinner! Thank you chef and staff!
Came to hear "Blind to Reason" band play and decided to have dinner first. Menu is extensive, not just the usual pub food. Room was very busy and very loud. We ordered two appetizers, the potato croquettes and the firecracker shrimp. Both were very tasty and the portions were HUGE. Would not have ordered both if we knew how big the portions were. I enjoyed the fish tacos and husband had the chicken ceasar salad - both tasty. Staff were very friendly.

Service was slow and needs refinement. While the food was ok (though heavily salted), it is overpriced. We were there on a slow night (only about 10% of the tables were occupied) yet the service was inconsistent and the kitchen was very slow. I ordered one of the specialty drinks printed in the menu and was told by the waitstaff that an essential Ingredient in said drink was missing so I couldn't have it. A more professional staff would've identified items than are unavailable when menus are given. Everyone was friendly, though.
We heard that the service was not that great, we were very pleased that we had a fantastic waitress. She was very attentive and did not over do it either. I would recommend the fried pickles they are perfect! We truly enjoyed out time at the Clubhouse and will come back again.
It was not busy at the time our party of 7 was sat at 5:00 yet it took 50 minutes for our waitress to take our food order and 90 minutes for our food to arrive. Drinks from the bar took 20 minutes each round. When our food arrived my husbands ribs were cold and the bowl of soup ordered came out as a cup. The bread or crackers that was promised when ordered did not come. Everything was chaos. Hard to enjoy ourselves when we were busy begging for service. The room was not full until 6-6:30 so the owners excuse of “unindated” was not legitimate for the entire experience.
We thought we try this new "bar & grill" style eating place, located inside the Pleasanton Hotel on Main. We visited during Happy Hour, and had difficulty ordering from the Happy Hour menu - which is not at all clear, and our first waitress was unable to describe what was listed, or how the food items were prepared. If you put "Sliders" or "Tacos" on the menu, you'd better be able to describe what they are. After a couple of "I'll have to find out" responses from waitress #1, she was replaced by waitress #2, who admitted the menu was confusing. I ordered an IPA, and my wife a cocktail. The cocktail was good, but the beer I wanted was not available, They brought me what they claimed was an IPA, but it tasted more like a wheat beer and was unfiltered. I could not drink more than half of it. When we go to a restaurant, our expectation is that the wait staff lead into the ordering process, by saying "let me tell you what specials we have today". That process seemed alien to the wait staff at the Clubhouse Bar & Grill. I doubt we'll be going back.
The Clubhouse's refresh of the previous restaurant is lovely. Great place to meet a friend for lunch in downtown Pleasanton. On my first trip, had an amazing burger, and this time, a lemony 'farrota', a sort of risotto which tasted light and refreshing. Looking forward to many future visits to sample more of the menu options. Good service, nice ambience, decent prices. Check it out!
