The Hop Yard American Alehouse & Grill

A Pleasanton go to for a long time now, this restaurant is showing it’s age. It’s time for a renovation to bring it back to life. Food was ok, burger and fries. The fries had too much seasoning on it for my liking. Service was great! Nice to see SF Giants game on one tv and US Open on another.

I love their fish & chips. Recently, the fish size is getting smaller.

We had a Chinese Chicken Salad as well as the Southwest Chicken Salad, and found of them both unremarkable. We weren't expecting high dining here, but were expecting something better. Basically, we could have grilled our own chicken and purchased salad kits from the grocery store and would have had a better meal. Their chicken looked blanched and had very little flavor. Both of these salads were edible, but disappointing (that's why the food has a okay rating), and most likely we would never order them again in the future.

Chicken in “fried chicken on brioche” smelled slightly stale. It wasn’t too obvious until i worked thru half of it, but eventually it became clear. I didn’t have time to wait for replacement, so I just paid and left.

Upd. The problem has nothing to do with cooking to order or not. It is about freshness of groceries.

We often order to go. Generally, the food is always good, but the last two times we have been disappointed. They have not followed the notes left under the menu items ordered. Leaving onions on burgers. Not leaving sauces on the side. I can understand having an off night, but this has become a trend. I would recommend eating in. We may need to find a new take out option.

Very good food & beers

Post funeral lunch in Pleasanton. I had a ground brisket burger. The guacamole was a different color, not sure if it was fresh guacamole or reconstituted. Several tv's for game watching and a full bar.
