Super friendly staff. The barbera was excellent, took some home. The surprise was the Cab Sauv. Much better than most Cabs you find in the foothills where the nights are too warm for it usually. Take these folks in on your foothill wine excursion.

Wow—what an unforgettable experience at La Mesa! We were visiting from Denver, and our friends treated us to this hidden gem for the afternoon. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the breathtaking views, mouthwatering food, and absolutely incredible wine! Lanelle made the day even more special—she was a delight to chat with and truly a wine expert. Thanks to her, we discovered some new favorites and ended up buying six bottles (which she made super easy to ship back home to Denver!). Our wine just arrived, and we’re already planning when to open the first bottle. If you’re anywhere near La Mesa, this place is a must-visit—we’re already counting down the days until we can come back!

We have been to the Amador Plymouth area multiple times and typically stay a bit more inward.
The day we went, may 3rd, to the area we decided to try a new place and I literally typed in wineries near me on Yelp and La Mesa vineyards popped up.
We were all glad that this was the main suggestion that popped up because we had such a wonderful time at the tasting room. The space itself is very clean and modern, and it has a beautiful view of the hills around the area. The outdoor seating area right in front of the tasting room is a wonderful space to take advantage of if you are going to be in the area during the warmer times of the year.
We tasted their general menu that day when it came to the flights. Everyone had their own favorites. The call-outs for us would be the rose and the primitivo.
Those two we really liked and bought two bottles of each.
We did not get to try the food there but everything that was coming out looked super delicious. The one thing that caught her eye that a lot of people were ordering was the whipped feta. So that is definitely something we want to try next time when we go back.
So if you're in the area please drive a little further out over the hill to find this wonderful little space.

Excellent winery...bucolic scenery for sure.. Never been to a winery where the staff was as cordial and attentive as the three ladies who served us today... The wine tasting for me and my wife was done at our lunch table..the music and singer was a very nice attraction for our Mother's day adventure. My wife and I love coming out to La Mesa Vineyards. We have been coming out for Mother’s Day for the last three years and became members on our first visit. The owner, staff, wine, food, and location are all amazing. This is an Amador County secret and we hope everyone can explore this beautiful vineyard.
