Sat at the bar so got in quick. Lucky cause the restaurant is always packed. Blanchard Lucas was our server. He made our time there very enjoyable. We had the bar Caesar salad with Boquerones, Amazing. For dinner we had Ribs and Burger, Again Amazing. There is no rush to eat by the staff, food was served with great timing. So you can enjoy the company and your meal. There prices are up there but perfect for the food, staff and service. If you don't go you will miss a bucket list experience.

Taste is hands-down one of the best restaurants in the foothills. The food is spot-on every time — super flavorful, thoughtful, and just really well executed. You can tell the kitchen cares about what they’re putting out.
Service is always friendly and dialed-in without being over the top. It’s the kind of place where you settle in, have a great meal, and walk out already talking about when you’re coming back.
Whether it’s a date night or just because you don’t feel like cooking, Taste never misses.

Exceptional Dining Experience at Taste Restaurant and Wine Bar
What an outstanding evening! From the moment my wife and I arrived, it was clear that Taste Restaurant and Wine Bar is something special.

The food was absolutely phenomenal, I ordered the 5-course meal, my wife the 3-course. The filet was cooked to perfection - incredibly tender with rich, savory flavors that made every bite memorable. The scallops were truly amazing, beautifully seared with a delicate sweetness that showcased the quality of the ingredients.

The wine pairings elevated the entire meal. Big call out to the Todd Taylor Cabernet, so good I bought a bottle at the restaraunt. Each selection complemented our dishes perfectly, enhancing the flavors and creating a harmonious dining experience that showed real expertise and attention to detail.

But what truly set this experience apart was the personal touch from the chef. Taking the time to sit with us and explain their culinary philosophy showed genuine passion and hospitality. It's rare to find that level of engagement and care, and it made us feel like valued guests rather than just customers. Understanding the thought and intention behind what we were eating made the meal even more meaningful.

Taste is absolutely fantastic! My husband and I purchased the 3 course (appetizer, main, dessert) and 5 course (2 appetizers, 2 main, 1 dessert) dinners so that we could taste a variety of foods. Everything was AMAZING! We had the Mushroom Bruschetta (OMG), Fall Salad, Mushroom Cigar, Swordfish, Filet Mignon, Lamb Chops, Creme Brûlée and Adult Float with Baileys.

This 10 Star restaurant is amazing! Food is most creative and absolutely delicious. Service is amazing, the chef is personable and engaging. His gourmet talents are reflected in his menu offerings. This is California’s hidden golden gem in the old gold rush foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. A must go dining experience.

We stopped by Amador County’s Shenandoah Valley to pick up our wines and were delighted to stumble upon The Taste — such a wonderful surprise!
Chef Micha welcomed us with warmth and shared locally foraged end-of-season boletes — firm, rich with umami, and absolutely unforgettable.
The venison, perfectly cooked and paired with chanterelles, was autumn on a plate.
And the fig cream pie — with silky vanilla pudding, fresh figs, candied pecans, and fig purée — was the perfect sweet finale. Every detail reflected care, creativity, and the beauty of the season.

This really is a treasure. These guys are amazing. They’ve put their heart and soul into their restaurant and their boutique hotel and it shines coming from Marin County. It’s well worth the drive. It’s an amazing experience in this quaint little town. such a classic act such wonderful people who create a real feeling of community I mean the kind we total strangers become friends.
