We found their booth at Gualala farmers market.
I got almond croissant that was absolutely loaded with almond paste and could be a meal for half of the day. My partner got savory croissant that was amazing and had almost identical ratio of croissant to savory filling when you bite into it.
To my taste it’s a bit too sourdough and tastes like a danish on the inside. I wish I would have tried the regular croissant to have a better feedback, plowing through that amount of almond paste was not a small task.
We also got ciabatta in a baguette form factor and went through it in a day.
It’s MUCH better than Manresa and Croissante.
*We got coffee from the only coffee shop in Gualala and it was really good.

Almond croissant - 8.5/10 crunchy exterior with a soft and delicious interior. Almond paste throughout and very very tasty paste. Really enjoyed and would get again.
Stonefruit scone- not great, but also not bad. Whitney said very cornbready which is quite accurate. Like moist dough cornbread with a denser texture. Different, and would've been better had we not been eating dessert.

What a gem Point Arena has with this bakery in town. They are only open to the public two days per week but we made sure we were there both days and since they run out of so many items, we were there early on the second day we went. This is truly a gem.

Now open Saturday mornings, this Point Arena bakery is a must-visit. We devoured a chocolate almond croissant, monkey bread, and a lemon curd croissant — all absolutely divine. I snuck back for another chocolate almond croissant and a round loaf of sourdough (wanted backup for the long coastal drive). Pelican Bread in Point Arena is well worth the detour.

The croissants look great but they taste awful. Was doughy and not well layered. Of course I’m a pastry chef and my standards might be higher than the consumer who does not know any better. ;-)
Tucked away from the bustle of its neighboring bar, Bird Café and Supper Club in Point Arena is nothing short of a delightful secret. Behind two large curtains, down a long hallway, you'll discover this enchanting spot that exudes a sense of exclusivity. What strikes you most about Bird Café is the consistently exceptional quality of the food. They typically serve a set three-course meal with a limited selection, which enhances the sense of dining as an event. The options may vary, so it is advisable to call ahead to understand the day's offerings. It's also a perfect place for dietary flexibility as they cater to varying preferences and restrictions. Reservations are a must due to the intimate setting, with only about seven or eight tables available. It allows for a unique dining experience that is both cozy and refined. The ambiance, though warm and inviting, can get a little breezy, particularly given Point Arena's cool climate. So, bringing along a jacket wouldn't hurt. Having frequented Bird Café over the past few years, particularly during the holiday season, I can vouch for the sustained high standards they maintain. The quality of their ingredients is top-notch, resulting in dishes that can stand tall among the best that San Francisco's dining scene has to offer. In conclusion, Bird Café and Supper Club is an alluring culinary experience tucked away in the charming town of Point Arena. For food lovers who appreciate an intimate dining experience paired with gourmet excellence, this is a destination you do not want to miss.

BEWARE: cash only. With tip, around $150 for dinner for two with small pours of wine by the glass. Nice wine list. Very noisy inside. Food very good and also good service good and friendly.
Finding this place is not easy…. You go through a long hallway off the street into a windowless small dark room. It was Oyster Wednesday and the oysters were just ok. They were out of the bread (at 6:30pm), but the salad was good, simple and large enough to share. We also had the goat cheese coquettes that were good (but there were only 3… hard to share!) Service was slow and the lighting is bad- I had a spotlight in my face which was quite annoying! Might have stayed longer and ordered more food if we were more comfortable and the ambience was better! This place is nowhere near a 5 star restaurant… it really was just ok. Not enough to draw me back again.
I got a loaf of their Rustica bread from Surf Market in Gualala. It was tasty but then it turned to incredible once I put a thick slice in the toaster oven. Now I am trying to figure out how to get my hands on some more of it! Super good.
I live on the coast and have given Pelican Bread several chances to be better. Today, 1/18/23, was the final straw! Rustic loaf, burnt & tough on the outside, and half RAW in the inside. Garbage. For what we pay for food here, it’s super annoying to get something made so poorly. Problems proofing or running their ovens way too hot? A bread bakery is a valuable resource to locals. Wish dearly they made edible bread…
We made it here on a Wednesday. We've had their bread before, purchased at the surf market. What we have not had before are their pastries. We got two almond croissants and two chocolate croissants. We had the almond croissants the next day and the chocolate croissants the following day. Even though they were day old and then two day old, these were excellent pastries! Would happily return for the pastries alone, but the bread is also delicious!
