Due West in Olema has long held a special place in our hearts. Unfortunately, based on our most recent visit this past week, it’s clear that the food quality has steadily gone downhill from its former glory.

The consistent excellence we once relied on has been replaced by dishes that are merely average. Everything we ordered on this last trip was decidedly underwhelming. A prime example was the blackened fish sandwich, which was disappointingly bland and quite frankly, bad. It lacked the spice, seasoning, and texture expected of a blackened preparation, signaling a significant dip in kitchen execution.

The decline isn't limited to the plate. The staff who once greeted us with warmth and efficiency also seem to have changed. What used to be a hallmark of great hospitality now feels disgruntled and, at times, rude. The level of service was disappointing and detracted from the overall dining experience.

Despite the downturn in food and service, the one element that remains untouched is the magnificent location and ambiance. We still genuinely love the setting—it’s a beautiful, atmospheric spot that provides the perfect backdrop for a meal in West Marin.

Cute restaurant. Friendly attentive staff. Fish and chips and calamari delicious. King salmon was too well doing for me.

Diverse menu with unique dishes. Delicious food. Noisy and service a little slow. May be under staffed with servers.

Very relaxed atmosphere, delicious food, reasonable prices - especially their M-F "Blue Plate Special" Great place to stop while visiting Pt Reyes and the beaches.

Associated with the Olema House next door, this is a friendly, wonderful place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of creation. In the late afternoon, we ordered two glasses of wine and a cheese and cracker plate and took them outside into the garden. In Adirondacks we sipped and enjoyed several locally made cheeses and watched the sun go down behind the redwoods. As the evening cooled we segued into the interior dining room. The food was high-end pub food: friendly, tasty, and comforting. Stay overnight at the Olema House and enjoy wine, cheese, cocktails, and dinner at Due West.

Stopped in because we were starving, Ben the bartender was fantastic, let's us know all the fish was locally caught, oysters fresh AND local, he made a fantastic coastal Manhattan that my brother loves. And the fish and chips, the chicken entree, were all incredible.

For just being hungry and stopping at a random place, this was such a wonderful surprise.

The portion sizes are very small given their high prices! Food was not all that great , not worth the price.

Great steak and drinks. Chocolate cake went well with the port they had on offer. Excellent oysters too.

I enjoyed the cafe after a bike ride, coffee and some breakfast items like burritos and breakfast sandwiches.

There are portopotties and Tesla charging area and indoor and outdoor seating.

What a gem! We’ve been coming to Point Reyes Station for years but just discovered this sweet little compound of inn, tavern, and cafe/market in Olema (less than 5 mins south of PRS!). Due West delivers on charm, delicious fresh food (oysters, mussels, burgers, eat ALL of it), and friendly local service. I highly recommend you venture out of the busy spots (that are also good, of course) and check out Due West. You will not be disappointed.
