They opened later than what the site said. People were waiting in the parking lot. Got some pan dulce. There was not much selection that morning. What was really good were the bolillos. The bolillos alone were worth getting up and waiting till they finally opened. I'll swing by again.

Love the bread here definitely a go to spot for bread and I love the burritos here the flour tortillas they make them with are delicious definitely fresh flower tortillas here. I usually get a lengua or carne de res en jugo rojo burrito. On occasion I'd order a milanese torta and add ham to it. Can't go wrong ordering food here also. They got juices like vampiros ect here also

Don't let the name of the shop fool you. If you love tamales, this is the place to go!! Yes, they sell cakes, pan dulce, etc. but people will stand in line for a long time just to get the tamales. They often run out of choices (beef, pork, cheese) of tamales during peak times, but staff will let you know about what time more will be available. ***Words of Caution--The area isn't the safest, so please be well aware of your surroundings and go with others (not children) in/out of the shop.
Parking: Be super aware of your surroundings with your head on a swivel. I would recommend going with another adult.

I have mixed feelings about this place.
I got some conchas, champurrado, and ordered a quarter sheet tres leches cake. All were fresh and good flavor. The conchas had a good amount of the topping I like. The champurrado was not too thick or too sweet. The cake could do with less of the frosting but that might just be a personal preference.
However, there is always a line. If you’re looking to go and pick something up quick, definitely not the place. Expect to wait in line at least 20 min.
Now for the part that stops me from giving this place five stars despite the wait is that the service is horrible! Everyone seems to be in a bad mood every time I’ve been there. This seems to be a trend from all the reviews I read. I get it, it’s busy, but will this be another reason for making visits less regular, definitely.
Not the place to go to on the daily but worth a trip every once in a while.

I always buy bread, cookies and cakes from here. I'm sensitive to cheap flour; however, this is the only place I can eat bread without feeling ill. They use high-quality ingredients. I have been to all the bakeries in town, and Portos and Spikes are the only ones I go to. Unfortunately, the city I live in doesn't have good bakers or barbers and I have to drive 2 hrs to get here and I always get treated right, fast and when possible an on the spot custom (no frosting) on my order. You can taste Mexico in the flour and all the ingredients used. Whoever the owner is, we salute you.

Very Dissapointed....Bought cheese & the chicken tamales 12/22/24 were a little dry , hardly no sauce &;very little cheese not worth the money.. Especially bcus I'm on a tight budget, had surgery can't walk right now. Spent over $30
