I have been eyeing this place for a while and after my trip to Japan, I have been craving really good sushi so I figured I’d finally give this spot I try. The main sushi chef was not the friendliest my friend and I sat at the table, but then decided that the sushi bar would be a better choice so we asked the waitress, and she said yes, and as we started to move our things, the sushi chef shouted “no” said something in Japanese to the waitress and then she apologized to us and said we couldn’t go to the bar. which I will say, the bar was completely empty. But okay no big deal we stayed at our table. The waitress was very sweet about the whole thing. I felt bad for her more than anything. Most of the fish were pretty decent. I will say my favorite was the scallop.

A very small typical Tokyo style sushi shop. Owned and run by Mama, she was super nice and helpful. Fish was fresh and delicious recommendations of what is in season. Tokyo style sushi which means fresh fish and rice, not deep fried rolls and spicy mayonnaise. Highly recommend for sushi lovers!

An acquaintance had recommended Sushi Hanada to me and I had been wanting to try it for years. The vibes here are amazing: it’s a little hole-in-the-wall spot with jazz music and an unpretentious sushi bar. There were few people there when we went so we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Our server spoke very little English but we got by. The food, however, was terrible. The restaurant smelled like spoiled fish the moment we walked in, and the sushi & sashimi was not fresh. We spent over $200 for two people and left feeling hungry and disappointed.

Atmosphere was nice since there was no one really there. Ordered beef teriyaki, it was ok. Softshell crab, was way too mushy, so was the “fried” calamari, pancake texture. Honestly the food was bad. And I never really complain about places. I would not recommend this place, UNLESS you have never had sushi before and you don’t know what it is supposed to taste like.Beer was good! Will not be coming back to this place, sorry.

Authentic and decadent sushi that comes with real Wasabi (not horseradish). Great jazz tunes while you eat. I ate at the bar and the sushi master chef waited until we had completed and savored our sushi. I recommend the red snapper.

This place has the worst service and food. Don't order the teriyaki chicken or beef. Don't ask for Wasabi or ginger. You will told you can not have it with certain dishes. Terrible experience. Spent over $350 on 6 people. Won't go there again.

best sushi in all Ventura county - the salmon teriyaki is better than most places. The chef learned Japanese cuisine in Japan

First time back in 7 years for omakase and the fish quality and preparation are top notch. Every item was delicious and it's truly a culinary experience. I felt like there was too much wasabi this time, making it more of a struggle to actually enjoy each fish bite and its notes and subtle flavors. For a meal costing over $100 a person, I think the chef does himself and his cuisine a disservice by the amount of wasabi that he uses.Parking: Large lot in strip mall. Many spots in front, to the side, and behind.

Great service. Came with my husband and we both ordered the sushi and sashimi, but I wish I had ordered the omakase. It's not on the menu but we saw another couple order the omakase and the variety of fish was much greater than the entree we ordered. No frills at this spot, but I appreciate their commitment to traditional Japanese style cuisine.

You are great! Sushi Hanada is the best Japanese restaurant in Ventura county. Sushi and rolls are over the top, but also other fish and beef plates are so good. Don't miss the opportunity to give it a try! ?Vegetarian options: Miso soupParking: Parking will be not a problem

The sushi here is divine, my personal favorite is the albacore & tempura veggie s, but the food here is of the utmost quality.

Nice atmosphere. Traditional Japanese sushi bar and restaurant. Recommended.

I would highly advise on calling in a reservation as it does get busy and I believe it gives you the best experience along with knowing what edo-mae style sushi is, you don’t need to but it gives you a better understanding on how much pride and care they put into each of their plates. The staff are very welcoming and guide you on how how to eat different fish so you can enjoy the flavors they’re presenting. All in all it’s an amazing experience that everyone should try.

Best sushi I have ever had! Great place to go if you are ever in Oxnard! It won't disappoint you!

Horrible, over priced, excuse is. " it's traditional Japanese", I've been to Japan, it's nothing close. The fish was limited, they seriously did not offer Ponzu sauce unless you ordered halibut. Ridiculously overpriced, not worth it.
