Thank Neely for the visit, the tour and the incredible wine.
Hidden gem!
We went to Neely's after seeing their ¡Cinco de Vino! (May Wine Wednesdays) initiative. On this special occasion, the chef served some hors d'oeuvres (Guacamole—shallot / lemon / Fresno chili, Salsa Verde—tomatillo / cilantro / jalapeño, Prawn Ceviche—achiote / lime / jicama, Strawberry Paleta) to accompany a bottle of wine (we chose the Chardonnay). We liked it so much that we returned the next day for a proper tasting of five wines, along with sundries, cheese, and charcuterie.
The staff was amicable. We talked with the chef about the food. The person who served the wine explained the winery's history (the first vines were planted in 1980, but a new phase of vineyard planting began in 2017). The tasting room only opened recently. On our second visit, we also met the owner.
Reservations are required because the town of Portola Valley mandates them. Same-day reservations aren't a problem for the owners. When you arrive, your table is ready, and you don't have to wait long for your food (if you order it while making your reservation).
I like the concept at Neely's. Other wineries often offer crackers, cheese, or charcuterie that you can also buy in a grocery store, but Neely's is next level because of the presence of an actual chef who prepares the platter and explains what pairs best with which wine.
Very nice place. Beautiful outside seating, reasonable price, good vines.
A beautiful place to spend an afternoon. I look forward to each visit - thank you Tina, Lucy and team!
I loved this place and our visit there. We did a flight tasting and each wine we tried was good in its own way. Wouldn't throw a single one out. Also, we had just missed March 'mushroom madness' but still got to try a little bit of the mushroom pate!Tina really made the experience a special one. She was able to fit us in and was great to chat with the entire time. We learned about many things that day - Home Depot, corked wine, Portola Valley laws...The space itself was nice and chill (one speaker inside for music -- the laws, remember?) especially because it was dumping rain that day. I'll have to go back when it's sunny for sure!
Excellent wine and friendly staff ?.
Neely is a special place - it’s almost unbelievable to have such nice winery nearby, and their whites and Pinots are one of the bests in the area! What’s even better is the view of the vineyard and Windy hills on a beautiful weekend sitting on the outdoor sofa. Highly recommended to drop by for a taste!
Neely is a wonderful place to spend some time and sip some wine. My wife and I were there for one of the Wednesday afternoon tastings. We drank a '19 from the "hidden parcel". Tina was a great hostess! Make the time to go... But call ahead to get the gate combo!
Great new winery. Beautifully located, great service, good tasting menu with an appetizing charcuterie board. Personally, their Chardonnays are simply delicious.
