Oh wow! I hesitate in writing this because I love a good hidden gem that isn’t overrun with people who don’t get it. And yet - Dan and his wine deserve to be recognized. The ambience and the product is NOT your typical winery. If you are looking for local vibe that’s a stone’s throw from San Diego, and also serves up really creative, unique (and fab) wine, then visit Barrel Riot. Please respect that you’re visiting this family’s home - and lean in for an unforgettable experience. Thank you Barrel Riot for an unexpected treat!

Don't be surprised when you pull into someone's driveway to come to this winery! This small business hosts their winery in a great backyard feel of a location. The wine is phenomenonal, the genius of aging them in spirit barrels is a great call. Personally this time around, only tried the tequila barrel wines: the Orange Muscat, Rosé, and Zinfandel. They offer wines from tequila, rum, and bourbon barrels. Complex and delicious wines that aren't overly sweet. Highly recommend!

We found Barrel Riot at a Farmer's Market while on vacation in the San Diego area. We purchased the Orange Muscat and it was perfectly balanced and just the right sweetness. I ordered a bottle of one of their red blends as a host gift for Christmas and had it shipped to AZ. I accidentally put in the wrong address and when I immediately called to correct it, the owner corrected it and printed up the shipping address while on the phone with me and made sure the bottle shipped out in time to arrive before Christmas (I waited until last minute and figured it would arrive after, but he was awesome!) They are super friendly and the wine is delicious!

I had a great time playing cornhole with my Daughter. Great little spot tucked away in the back, next to a Church. Cool assortment of barrel-aged wines stored previously in hard liquor barrels like Bourbon, Rum, and Tequila. Cool and relaxing patio area with a couple of TVs.
I'll be back!

Walk in and get treated like family. This local family owned business explains wine, the process they go through, and their life stories with a smile and drink. Couldn’t have been more fortunate to stumble upon this place.

Oh my goodness!!!!! This is truly a hidden gem. I’m so glad we found it. Hubby and I stopped by last night and we ended up trying about 6-7 different wines, each better than the one before. There wasn’t a wine that wasn’t absolute delicious. The owner and his beautiful wife are so friendly and welcoming. I’d give more than 5 ⭐️ if I could!!!!
