I have been to various places in the South, and I have experienced the various styles of BBQ. I have to say, Smokin J's BBQ gets it right!! I am not a fan of smothering meats in Sauce and calling it BBQ. I believe BBQ should speak for itself, and let the consumer decide if and how much BBQ sauce they want. Their meats need no sauce to enjoy. I had the brisket, and it was simply amazing. Literally melts in your mouth!! I am not a fan of the slaw; I prefer a sweeter take on slaw, but that is just my personal taste. I have only been once, and it was busy for good reason. Get there early, before the baby back ribs sell out!!

Great BBQ place in Poway. Service was helpful and friendly. We ordered brisket, pulled pork and burnt ends, potato salad, beans, Mac n cheese, and brisket chilli. Everything was delicious. We ate outside under umbrellas. They sell their rubs and BBQ sauce too in gift shop too. We'll be back.

The best BBQ I’ve ever had! The chicken is absolutely amazing, tender and full of flavor, but honestly everything on the menu is outstanding. The sweet potato fries are also worth mentioning, perfectly crispy and delicious. The location gives you a real American experience, with simple wooden tables outdoors and the chance to see how the BBQ is made right there. Ryan welcomes us with warmth and fun stories, making the whole visit even more memorable. A truly authentic spot, highly recommended!

For a work event I ordered the party platter and an additional pound of brisket and pulled pork as well as a thing of coleslaw. We had about 14 people (mostly men) and there were some leftovers of each item. The platter also came with pickles and pickled onions which was a nice surprise. I ordered online and it was so easy! I also had some questions and called twice, staff was very nice and helpful! I ordered for delivery and the order arrived a couple minutes before the scheduled delivery time which was great. The food was so delicious and a big hit! Most everyone went back for seconds and some for thirds! Definitely will get again!

This place is my favorite bbq spot. I had them cater my wedding a couple days ago and EVERYONE loved the food. Everything was on point, they delivered on time and very friendly from start to finish. I highly recommend this place.

I don't live in Poway, but I have ordered this BBQ through a delivery app multiple times. (Picked up once in person) This is hands down the BEST BBQ in SD!!!!!! The Brisket is out of this world tender and the Bean Crack is a burst of flavor with every bite. The French fries are delicious and generously Cajun-ish seasoned with a hint of Rosemary that has my taste buds begging for more. The bread pudding is a lot less bread more pudding, and oh so flavorful. This place is 10/10 for my family!
