This place is my favorite bbq spot. I had them cater my wedding a couple days ago and EVERYONE loved the food. Everything was on point, they delivered on time and very friendly from start to finish. I highly recommend this place.

I don't live in Poway, but I have ordered this BBQ through a delivery app multiple times. (Picked up once in person) This is hands down the BEST BBQ in SD!!!!!! The Brisket is out of this world tender and the Bean Crack is a burst of flavor with every bite. The French fries are delicious and generously Cajun-ish seasoned with a hint of Rosemary that has my taste buds begging for more. The bread pudding is a lot less bread more pudding, and oh so flavorful. This place is 10/10 for my family!

I am a regular here, one of the greatest bbq places in the SD area. Today I placed an order online. When I came in about 6 min later it was still being worked on, which is fine. But then as the order was getting finished, the guy said ‘brother, we close at 8!’ The tone was certainly not customer oriented. Nor did I know that’s when they close. I placed the order online, it allowed the order to go through, told me to arrive to pick it up at 8:14pm (arrived 6 minutes or so prior to that) and I get chastised for coming in late? Was not the vibe I loved about this place soon after its opening. If you close at 8, have the website stop accepting orders at 7:45pm….

The alluring smell of this place is undeniable. I could smell it as soon as I got out of the car. The person who helped take my order was amazing and made great suggestions. Don't be scared of the long lines, it moves quickly and they get the food out pretty fast. The TV dinner portion is perfect with one meat and 2 sides. The BBQ pulled pork was wonderful. The parking lot is a bit small but you can park on the curb in areas nearby and walk. I only saw outside seating if you are eating there.

I absolutely love dining at Smoking J's. Been here a few times as their meats are always flavourful and tender. We've had the 3x3 Combo Platter, The Smoking J Sandwich and Cali J-Rito. The staff are always friendly and welcoming as well.
Reserved the outside tables at the Miramar location for a team dinner and cider tasting. The food was excellent, easy to submit the catering order tailored to our group (included vegetarian option) and the service was great!

One of my favorite bbq places in san deigo and I'm from Texas and they have really good everything 😋 every once in a blue moon you'll get some overcooked brisket but 90% they are spot on and Great sides and nice staff.
The real hidden secret here is the pork belly 😋 😉
