We came here on the way to the desert instead of getting food in Julian. After ordering it took an hour to get the food. The food wasn’t bad but it wasn’t anything special either.

Breakfast was bland and overcooked. Place was pretty empty but the food took a longtime to come out. Was shocked 15 to $20 a plate for breakfast. I don't recommend.

Things have improved, but still needs some work. I ordered chicken fried steak for breakfast plus biscuits and gravy. Biscuits and gravy improved, but the chicken fried steak was overcooked and I couldn't eat it. plus the service is fair at best. We had to ask for silverware and water. plus the server spoke so softly we couldn't hear her talk. They did give me a discount, but I would have liked to eat the whole breakfast. I hope the New Owner will see this and correct his problem. This could be an outstanding place to eat if things get addressed.
Best place any time of day where you can get breakfast for dinner and dinner for breakfast. A MUST go to in Ramona, This little gem has amazing regulars and a family staff that have been there for years! Been there since the 1900's (approx?) but reopened 20 years ago (also approx) with new owner she was a waitress and bought it from the original owner because she wanted to keep it going!

This place is under new ownership (as of Sept. 2025). They've done a lot to improve the interior and upgrade the menu. The food is still the same great food, but the place is noticeably improving.
VERY nice place. Classic family diner.

Over the years I have ordered mostly every menu item at least once. I have yet to be disappointed. The taco salad is really excellent, so is the French dip.

Incredibly delicious...I had their Bourbon Vanilla French toast, eggs, sausage and bacon with their country potatoes. Onions were perfectly caramelized, food very well seasoned and service was great!

Been to country kitchen several times, must have new owners. Waitress messed up orders ,I had an omelet it was rubbery. Every thing tasted microwaved .New decore but only a few customers. Don't feel the need to return.

I love hot beef sandwiches. It's been years since I've had a good one. Most restaurants use that fake deli meat and it just doesn't work. This place had real beef that was sliced from a roast. Was delicious

A little day trip to Julian brought us here since eating in Julian was near impossible.
When we arrived it was pretty slow which was great.
I always go for a good eggs benedict and got the stack - subbed the ham for bacon. It was very good!
We both cleared our entire dishes.
My boyfriend got the chicken fried steak which was also a great choice.
Service was good, nothing to rave about but surely not bad as many reviews mention.
A little pricy in my opinion, but that's just about everywhere now.
I would have loved a breakfast mimosa though - unfortunately, no alcohol served here.

Really great breakfast/brunch spot in town and very reasonably priced. Service can be a little slow but we don’t come here when we’re in a rush.
