Poppaea Vineyard and Winery offers a charming experience focused on a love for Italian wine varietals. Located in Ramona, this winery features indoor and outdoor seating, with the indoor area cooled to a comfortable temperature. Guests can enjoy a proper restroom, unlike many local wineries that only offer porta-potties. The wines, known for noticeable tannins, are excellent, and detailed explanations about each wine are provided by the passionate winemaker. This winery is truly one of the best in Ramona.

The owner, a retired British chemist, is a very pleasant host who will share his knowledge about the wine-making process. The winery uses at least eight different Italian grape varieties, and while some wines may be a little too dry for some, the BPx and the newly minted Barbera are excellent. The views from the winery are spectacular, and it offers a great value for the tasting experience.

Visitors describe the winery as an absolutely wonderful place, with great views, great wine, and the best staff. The owner and his son are praised for their hospitality and for being lovely to talk with. The winery's sweet pup, Max, is also a highlight for some guests. Overall, it is a 10/10 experience that is highly recommended for anyone visiting the Ramona area.
