We first visited here in 2023 while we stayed in Terranea resort, and came back again in 2024. All the dishes were surprisingly delicious, even the breads. and Terry who served us was so friendly, kind and gentle. Every other people were also very very kind.
We really enjoyed the moment here and when we came back again, Terry remembered us and we could make another special moments. We could feel that he tried to give us the best he could, we can say he is the best server we’ve met all around the world. So friendly, humorous and funny, I’m so sure everyone likes him. I have no idea how to describe it but this mar’sel restaurant gives us very special feeling and it really means a lot to us.
Hope this place lasts forever and we really want to come back again.

One of the best options in the area for oceanfront sunset dining. Maybe the best. Plenty of outside heaters if it's getting chilly. Not quite Michelin-star level food but still elegant, interesting and luxurious. Prices are high but with the setting makes this an incredible value. Would recommend the beef carpaccio, iberico pork, and halibut. Service was good until they started to get a little more full, at which point we would be waiting entirely too long for our waiter to check in on us and a lot of the diners were getting very frustrated. Shouldn't have understaffing issues like that at a restaurant of this caliber when the restaurant isn't even full. Overall an excellent choice for special occasions, make sure you're watching the weather so you don't go when it's overcast.

Mar’sel is located in the Terranea resort on the south side of Rancho Palos Verdes, right on the cliffs above the Pacific Ocean. Mar’sel is a classy, kind of expensive restaurant with three main rooms: a dark bar, a fireplace room with a glass wall overlooking the ocean, and an outdoor patio with heaters. The menu has lots of fresh and innovative foods, with a larger number of seafood options. This is a great place for date nights and getting together with friends. It’s not a great option for kids. We heard about Mar’sel in the winter, and were told that sunsets are beautiful, so we waited until late spring to make sure it wasn’t raining, and to go when sunset would occur at a reasonable hour for dinner. If it’s raining or you’re seated after sunset, you’ll still have a great meal, but you’ll miss the beautiful views, which are a big reason to go here. There’s valet parking and the restaurant will validate your claim card so that the cost is (still) $15. The food was super fresh, and Steven, our waiter, could not have been nicer or more attentive.

The food did not match the price. We took one bit of an appetizer, which we ordered as a main course, that was very fishy and they did not even question it. They just took the plate away.

Absolutely gorgeous place! Overlooking the Pacific Ocean with Catalina Island perching out of the water, it was amazing. Food was high quality and creative, maybe too creative at times. If you are looking to really wow someone, get one of the outdoor seats and get ready to be amazed at this view.

Mar'sel is a very good restaurant at Terranea resort. The prices are high but you won't be disappointed. Every dish was delicious. The pork pancetta was very well prepared as well as the lamb shops. The service was remarkable with a very welcoming attitude upon our arrival by a nice host that made sure during our diner that everything was ok. Highly recommended place for any diner occasion.
