Excellent food, must try their "hot" salsas they are actually more flavorful than the standard. The chips were a little stale.

Nice clean place and atmosphere went there when my child was a baby. Nostalgic, how time flies, ordered take out for my kid. He enjoyed the carne asada fries and Jamaica hibiscus drink ?

Such a nice find. I've never been there, and it was great. Sat at the bar and watched a Padre game. Nice and quiet for a Sunday afternoon.

Totally authentic, uncompromising, rustic Mexican cuisine! Excellent, non-pretentious servers.
Home cooking as my mother used to make.
The generous Generación margarita - delightful and strong!
The camarónes al mojo de ajo... delectable.
The home made tortillas, flour and corn, authentic.
The chile relleno was excellent.
The queso dip and chips were a great introduction to what would arrive.
Excellent culinary experience ... in a hidden location.

Food is mediocre and a bit overpriced. Need to flag a server. Need better salsa. Carne is tough Underwhelming and won't be back.

I should have known the place is not well managed by the fact that it was 5 de Mayo and the place was empty when we walked in for lunch. The food was good, but the service was slow (with only two tables), I was never asked if I wanted another margarita (I had to wait and waive at the server). Finally when the bill came I tried to use gift cards and the manager yelled (literally yelled) at me and said I could not use the gift cards for the whole bill. And that it was 5 de Mayo and she should not be accepting gift cards at all. Crazy lady. Terrible customer service. They too went quickly down after that interaction unfortunately.

Lovely restaurant with authentic Mexican decor. Great value - large portions, still decent rates compared to much of San Diego's high cost of dining out! Service is a bit slow. Music on Saturdays is nice (but a bit too loud!). I agree with other comments about refried beans....could be better. Overall, great value!

I've been coming to this place 1-2 times a week since I discovered it several months ago. It's pretty close by, has a quirky, local feel, and I usually enjoy their margaritas and veggie nachos. Recently I'd discovered their chicken tortilla soup and was ordering a cup of that as well. Early on I would order a margarita with a grand marnier float, and they were $19, which is okay but not a bargain. Recently I had shifted to a mid-level tequila with no float, and the price was usually $16. Last week I went and ordered a cup of soup, veggie nachos, and two margs; the bill was $66+ before tip. I didn't process it until later (usually I stick with one marg, so the extra half a marg probably caused the delay!). Tonight I ordered my usual cup of soup, veggie nachos, and one marg skinny, and the bill turned out to be $40 pre-tip because I got upcharged $5 for the "skinny" ($21 for the marg-- apparently agave and lime juice are expensive). I questioned the bill since the last two times the prices were significantly higher, and the manager (who has for some reason never seemed to like me) confirmed $21 is the correct price for a regular skinny margarita. I'm pretty sure I've never in my life paid that much for a margarita, and it doesn't feel reasonable, so I have to say goodbye to my favorite Mexican place. I'm bummed, and I'll miss a couple of the staff there (Luis in particular is awesome), but it just doesn't feel okay.

A favorite "date night" any night, the food is always good. We've been going here since they opened this location. Staff knows us, and we know them. Best service anywhere. Can't miss.
