The setting could not have been more beautiful. The food was delicious. The only notable area for improvement was the service. The hostesses spent at least 5-10 minutes looking up tables and answering the phone before even acknowledging our presence. The table service was friendly and helpful, but we had to ask for spoons and refills more than once. The service was fine, but improvement would make this a solid go to

Lilian's an excellent restaurant for the local rancho santa fe neighborhood. Its our go to restaurant to celebrate special occasions like what we did. The birthday cake and especially the birthday candle was a fun surprise!!! Highly recommend this restaurant. Its a 5 star restaurant for the great selection of food, Excellent service and great location.

The food was very good. The service was the absolute worst. Long waits, poorly trained staff, not enough menus, no serving utensils for appetizers or side dishes, could barely get a glass of water and not even a refill. I would not return .

Bad fishy fish in the crudo, honestly the worst I've ever had. Wagyu steak was served cold. Embarrassing inattentive service (10+ minute waits for simple things). Do not eat here.

It was terribly overcrowded that evening, both outside w a wedding & indoors in the restaurant & bar Even w a reservation we had to wait 20-30 minutes, w no place to sit or stand.The hostess seemed inexperienced, nobody sent waitstaff to ask if we'd like a drink while waiting, & we ended up standing in a hallway off the lobby til we found 2 pull up chairs ( in the hallway). Once seated it at our table it was incredibly noisy, & difficult to converse. The food was fine but we could not wait to finish & leave. We are locals, living quite close to the Inn, & its always been our Go To spot. This is my second terrible experience at Lilian's this year so we wont be coming back, unless possibly for lunch :-(

I really love this restaurant—it's my fifth time coming here! On sunny days, the terrace seating feels wonderful. The interior is cute and cozy, making it a very comfortable place to relax. They also have a café, and the pastries there are delicious. The staff is always friendly and attentive, which is why I keep coming back again and again.

Beautiful outdoor space, and the food and drinks were excellent. But the service -- terrible. We sat for 20 minutes before we could order cocktails and similarly had to ask after our server to order food. Really surprising in an establishment like this.
Always such a special meal to share with my best girlfriends. Love the atmosphere, the staff and the food. This time we went for brunch and I ordered the salmon bagel and it was absolutely perfect. My friend ordered the lemon pound cake and coffee and she raved about how moist and delicious it was as well.

I ordered the baked eggplant. It was excellent, but the portion was WAY to small given the high price for a basic Italian dish. I mentioned this to the waiter (who was very good), and just a few minutes later, the manager came over to hear my comments (both positive ones and negatives), and he COMPPED my entire meal. Which I certainly didn't expect or even want. I'll certainly go back again.

The food was TERRIBLE. The little hot dogs are precooked now! Awful! Bring back the actual hot dog! Bring back the avocado toast! Bring back the avocado salad! The two special dishes recommended to me were both terrible! The noodles had way too much sauce. The pasta was so bad, the waiter took it off the bill even though I told him not to, but he saw that I didn't eat any of it. We are regulars. Historically we have loved this restaurant. We are very saddened by how much this restaurant has changed for the worse. We will not come back for awhile in hopes things get better.
