Long time customer here. Probably will not be returning to this restaurant. The portions for what we ordered were small and this restaurant has become too expensive.

This was my second time at Nick & G's in the last two weeks and it was just as good the 2nd time around. We had a server named Nick, but was a different Nick than from two weeks ago, but he was just as good and fun to have as our server. We will be back!

We are frequent visitors to Rancho Santa Fe as we have friends here. We were curious to try Nick & G's Restaurant. We made reservations, only to find the restaurant door locked when we got there. What the heck? I double checked my confirmation text, yes, this was the night, this was the time. I saw some staff inside and knocked on the door to get their attention. We were told there was no water but a repairman was onsite working on the problem. There was no note on the door and had we not been proactive in knocking, we'd never have known why the restaurant was closed. We were seated and the water problem was repaired. I'd reserved their Monday prime rib dinner online, only to find out that they discontinued serving prime rib two months earlier (the waiter did not know why). They need to change what they offer on Open Table. The food (Caesar salad, chicken parm, and chicken piccata) were like something you would find at an Applebees. The chicken was rubbery, and there was no imagination or skill in the plating, despite higher end pricing. In their favor, they did split the Caesar salad for us on two plates. The waiter was helpful with my wine selection. Overall, the entire experience was depressing.

Service was excellent- we were the last ones to leave and didn't feel rushed. Manager was so nice.

Let me guess, the G stands for garbage? Or God awful? The food here couldn’t be more mediocre for the price. Service is sub par; similar to the other reviews the ambience is not great. It looks like they stapled couch cushions to the wall to improve the acoustics.

Had the steak and chicken parm. AVERAGE!! I don’t see why the rating for this restaurant is so high. I recommend avoiding this place - not worth the money. They are SO lucky to be in a higher end neighborhood without much competition.

Sat outdoors on the patio in early evening following some rainy days. Great that there were heaters. Made it very comfortable. Manager seated me and struck up a friendly conversation about where I was visiting from. I ordered a specific malt liquor from the menu, but the waitress returned to say they were out. I had the spaghetti and meatball entree, which is the reason I sat down after reading the displayed menu on the sidewalk. It was served hot and delicious. The meatballs were incredibly light and flavorful. I did request salt, as it was on no table to be seen. The only problem: the spaghetti portion was unusually small for such a good dish. About six bites in and my plate was dry. I then ordered a house salad for the advertised anchovies because I didn’t quite feel I had enough. Another problem: I could not discern any anchovy at all. For the $32 smallish spaghetti and a miniature half salad, I felt it was overpriced for the offerings. When the manager came back to chat some more, he had already forgotten where I told him I was from. A birthday party for an eleven year old girl was happening in a banquet room so many kids and moms were hovering all over chatting and visiting.

Always a great experience. We enjoy dining here and it's definitely a favorite spot. New menu is great. We loved the pulpo/ octopus appetizer. The salmon special was spectacular and the boar bolognese pasta was delicious. Great wine list. Wonderful wait staff and team. A lovely time.

We were seated promptly. Nick our server was an absolute delight. He's fairly new to this business so wasn't familiar with the wine list, but, he was quick to ask for assistance from another staff member. Nick is most gracious and knows the food menu and daily offerings well. Highly recommend the bread be improved as it was just a blah sliced hunk of blah bread that could have come from mass produced bakery in Connecticut. However, the accompanying butter was yummy. Our Caprese and Wedge salads were fresh and yummy. We, both had the Snapper with prosciutto and placed on a bed of seasonal succotash. It was delightful. The fish was cooked properly and the prosciutto was crispy, which I expect isn't an easy task. The veg succotash had an amazing sauce that should be bottled and sold separately. We wrapped up our dinner with a Creme Brulee which was a tad light on the vanilla for our palates. We will return to Nick & G's and hopefully be served by sweet Nick again. Fingers crossed that every Entree on the menu or a daily offerings is as yummy as the Snapper.

We had to move from the patio because it was so incredibly loud due to tables being close together, and some very loud patrons ruining the experience for everyone else. When we sat indoors, we didn't find the room pretty or elegant, and the first chair I sat in was Falling apart.

Excellent service. Food was meh was expecting exceptional. Calamari was over salted and we like salt! Ceasar salad was just blah- needed more dressing which we asked for that helped. The chicken parmesan over alfredo pasta sounded delicious but it had cruciferous veggies in the alfredo pasta i.e. broccoli and cauliflower under the chicken parm- which was just a no. the chicken parm breading flavor was spot on same as the Calamari which was odd. Lobster bisque tasted scorched. the bread pudding was dry and dense like a rock. not moist and custard-like with a crusted top as it should be. The live music was fun and drinks were good. Hoping the game is improved as we'd enjoy making this a regular spot.

First time there I'm really enjoyed it... Yeah atmosphere seems a little dated but the food and beverage and service were fabulous. Thank you.

I am a bit of a foody and dine out frequently, but there was nothing i cared for. chicken parmesan was overcooked and marinara sauce tasted unlike i have ever experienced. Caesar salad was good, pasta that was included in the chicken parm, was average at best. My partner had the chicken but was also overcooked. Green beans were overcooked. They advertise as fine dining, but the ambience is not fine dining at all. Waiter was very pleasant and attentive but i would not recommend this restaurant.
