A number of weeks ago, myself and a group of about 40 others decided to come here on a whim. We had heard that it was good, and we were nearby. As you can imagine, 40 people showing up at once asking for food is quite a shock! The staff was excellent to us, acting quickly and kindly. The food was delicious as well. This is the kind of burger you tell others about when they ask “does anyone know where to get a good burger?” Bartels took care of us and fed us well! Thank you!

I try to stop here every time I visit Redding. Not as polished as that overhyped chain with the fries that are only barely edible if served up ‘animal style’. Bartels has better burgers and fries hands down!

For a small burger joint my wife and I enjoy the burgers there. It reminded me of times past. The burgers I ate as a kid. Loved it

The girl there made one of the best burgers ever! Bravo. Would upload a photo, but the food was gone as fast as I received it.

Decent burger, but nothing special. Ordered it medium and it was overcooked. Honestly, no big deal because it was still moist and tasty. Fryer was broken when I came so I can’t comment on any of the accoutrements here. I’ll come back if the mood strikes.

Hands down the best affordable burger joint around. And I'm sorry to all you five guys peeps, yet, is pick Bartells over 5 guys any day. The burgers are way way way better and cheaper. Honestly I'd rather have Bartells then any other burger joint around.

What you would expect from an old-time hamburger joint.
Better than Bob's
Best burger in Shasta county. Been going to the one in Anderson for over 35 years. If you want a great burger, this is the place.
We have eaten at Bartel's on and off for over 20 years. We have always enjoyed the food and service. However, yesterday we ordered two Regular Cheeseburgers with Fries and a chocolate shake. One burger was minus any onions while the other had so many onions that they literally fell out while eating it. Both burgers appeared to have been sat on, as if they were only flat bread with burger with wilted lettuce and no tomato. The fries were not evenly cooked as some were soft and others crispy. The chocolate shake was good. The service was borderline rude, with flat responses and short answers with no expression of gratitude for our patronage. I have always believed Bartel's to be the best burger place in the area; it has now become one of the worst. After 20 years of patronage, I won't be returning.
Everything was positive except my son got a long black hair in his burger. Please consider hairnets for staff.
