Kahunas Mongolian BBQ and Sushi

My son has been raving about the spot for months and with his football games, I have not had the time. This place is amazing. The staff is all upbeat and positive starting with the hostess and her bubbly personality, she took any negative feelings we might have had away. Our server was amazing, close when we needed something, but never a bother PLUS she recommended the Jayden roll, thank you ?. The cook engaged and made a show of heating our food. The inside is very comfortable as well and set up to manage all of the activity that comes from making your own plates. Extensive sushi menu and bar menu too for those who want. Too many options for proteins, veggies and sauces to list making it possibly the best bang for the buck around.

Dirty and unprofessional

Well to start we paid over $100 and we're highly disappointed by what we experienced. From my fiance not getting his drink until almost done eating to the nasty bathrooms, dirty grill was used when there was a clean one right next to it. The food quality was very poor and tasteless. The meat was stringy and thawed ridden with flies.. I should've took photos and reported them honestly. My daughter was sick to her stomach before we even left. And when the waitress who can't even cover her stomach heard her in the bathroom getting sick and saw me she cose to smile barely rinse her hands and leave the restroom anyways.. I and my family will not be eating here anymore. I hope they can take this review and fix their issues.

Kahunas rarely misses the mark. The food is always fantastic and the servers are always kind. My only complaint is the cleanliness of the place. The tables were so sticky on one visit, and our napkins literally stuck to the table and tore. They are quite accommodating and do accommodate food allergies by cleaning the grills as well. All in all, it's a good place to sit down and have a tasty meal.

Second time stopping in Redding, CA. Sadly this restaurant visit was a miss. The quality of the meat provided for the Mongolian BBQ was pitiful , most of the meat was freezer burnt and on top of being over priced to fill your bowl up only once. Requiring customers to play jenga with their food due to inadequate plating provided isn’t charming. We orders the kahuna roll as recommended by the server and the quality of the sushi was sub par. Rice was extremely dry and the seaweed wrap was entirely too thick. Overall extremely disappointed and very underwhelmed. Restaurant service needs improvement and quantity doesn’t mean quanlity when it comes to food.

Very dirty came here 3 yrs ago and today. Grease dripping from there vents has a dirty smell. Place needs to be professionally cleaned.

We were seated in a booth. The bottom cushion was worn out and splits were duct taped. The tape stuck to my butt. Our server eas wonderful and my sure we had full beverages.
The food was Meh. I had an eel roll that was below average and was bland tasting. My guest got the Mongolian bowl where you pick out your items and the cook puts them on the Mongolian grill. As both seniors and Veterans we were given a discount which made his Mongolian bowl a well price dish and he was satisfied with it for the price he paid. I will return one more time and revise if the food experience improves.

Ew - we have never left a full plate at a restaurant before, and I never ever leave bad reviews, but this place is just gross. I wish I had read a review like this before our visit.

Frankly, I’m not sure how they pass a health inspection.

All of the food is freezer burned. The carrots were literally black. The tongs everyone touches were laying in the food. The grill operator was rude if you don’t tip (didn’t know we needed to bring money with us to the buffet line).

The buffet food came out of the freezer in bins that are not food grade - like school supply boxes. The “sauces” look like they have been watered down. The whole place feels so dirty. The menus and trays were sticky. The door handles feel like they have never been cleaned.
They have 10+ box fans blowing all over the place, which was just weird.

We felt so lucky we didn’t order sushi because we felt sure we would be sick. We paid without eating and left.
Obviously, we won’t be back and I’m surprised anyone eats here.

food is so good, you can stack as much as you want in the bowl and make it 2 meals for the price of 1
never tried the sushi’s but everyone i take says it’s good~
servers are soooooo nice as well~ always checking up on you and making sure you got everything you need
