Great food, good quality ingredients and made to order. Cashier was quick and courteous. Picked up my food to go, reasonable wait time and pleasant seating while waiting.

I’m a local business owner (NorCal fishing guides)
And often refer all of my clients to San Fran deli. My son and I ordered sandwiches on line to go and the system didn’t realize that the business was already close. We walk in and they are cleaning up and informed us that they are closed now. They could tell we were hungry and a lil disappointed. The owner over heard and not only reimbursed me but also gave us two free sandwiches for next time. I wasn’t looking for anything free but they went out of there way to make me happy. That is a lost art anymore, but not at this establishment! Kindness, good work ethics, and curiosity is what San Francisco deli is about! There’s a reason they have been in business so long. Thank you for your generosity!

Gabe provided excellent recommendations. Mama Mia on sourdough roll was very tasty, but a little on the dry side to other competitive sandwiches. The roll made it slightly tough to eat, but I still recommend the sourdough roll. Reuben had amazing favors that didn't over power one another. Sauerkraut was just the right amount of sour without being bitter and the marbled rye was pleasantly pungent. Corned beef was AH-MAZING. Then there was the jalapeno potato salad (or as I like to call it jalatato salad) was off the chain, if much drier than typical potato salads. It needs to become a regular menu item. Atmosphere was a little beat up and run down, but servicable, clean, and quiet.

We waited over 20 minutes for our food to be told that they're just now cooking the bread. We saw a bag on the counter and asked if it was ours, the guy at the counter said it was not. We waited a few more minutes and then decided we wanted a refund and to go somewhere else. Our food was instantly "ready", as it was the food in the bag on the counter we asked about previously. Disappointed with the service and the time wasted as staff was in the back showing each other their phones, instead of focusing on their customers and service. The foods okay, but not worth the time spent waiting. Overall, I do not recommend unless the service gets better.
