Baleen Kitchen has good food but can be unpredictable. I made reservations for 4 thinking we would be at the main dining room. When we arrived we found out that the main dining room was closed and we had to eat at the small cocktail tables in the bar area. This was a disappointing surprise. This has happened to us before. We like Baleen Kitchen as the food is generally good but they need to figure out how to give us advance notice so that we are not surprised when we get there.

Horrible service. Was seated for over 20 minutes with no one checking in on us. Table behind us seated and immediately placed a drink order.....and we were still ignored. This while the dining room was dead - only us and the table behind us were occupied. We left. I don't recommend coming here

Baleen kitchen is a very good place for brunch. The pancakes are very soft and have orange zest in for a very unique and delicious flavor. The pancakes come with blueberries, butter and maple syrup. Alex's breakfast burrito is also very good with the sour cream on the side. It has a very nice combination of egg, potatoes and cheese with sour cream and guacamole. Heuvo Redondos are also extremely flavorful and by far the best thing I have ever eaten. Overall, this restaurant is a very nice, family friendly place to eat.

The food was good, and the gentleman at reception was genuinely nice. But we had one of the worst service experiences we’ve ever had because of a female server (with neck tattoo).
She delayed our order for over an hour and spoke to us with obvious irritation the entire time. When my wife calmly mentioned that our order was taking a long time and asked whether there might have been a mistake, the server responded in a loud, angry tone insisting there was “no mistake.” Meanwhile, multiple tables who arrived after us were served before us, including some receiving the exact dishes we ordered.
Good food does not make up for being treated with anger and disrespect. Completely unacceptable service.

This is one of my favorite "go to" local restaurants. The ambience is delightful, overall atmosphere is lovely; warm comfortable and always cozy. Love the servers; very personable and yet very professional. Unfortunately last nights "Christmas special dinner" was not presented well. Not to the standards of what I have come to expect at The Baleen Kitchen ... everything; squash, prime rib, mashed potatoes, and a bread roll arrived all together on the same plate much like a cafeteria style. The appetizers were perfect; served as individual items; soup and salad spot on. The main meal not only was disappointing to look at it was sooooo over salted in addition the beef was bathing in that "over salted" broth. Had to send it back. I have never had a disappointing meal at The Baleen Kitchen previously. But to have a dish that is for a special Holiday ... needs some addition in the kitchen. I'm sorry to report this but I want them to be at their best always.. P.S. my holiday Thanksgiving was perfection. My guests enjoyed it too!
Bear in mind that this was Christmas Eve, so the noise level and the kinda slow service were probably related to that. However, the following things were not: salad described as containing argula and candied pecans contained neither. Was never asked how I'd like my prime rib, so it came well done, but far worse, it was so badly over-salted as to be unappetizing. Service was friendly if not fast.

First hats off to Jazlynn she took to ask the chef if he would make the Sea Bass the original way they use to. She came back and the chef said okay. Customer Service at an all time high. This is how you keep a customer happy. I wasn’t interested in the new version. Jazlynn said it would take 35 mins it didn’t even take that long to get this wonderful tasty meal. I could have just went to heaven this meal was amazing. To the owner you have an amazing staff. Happy and ready to keep us the customer satisfied and happy as a kid on Christmas Morning. Before I go I told Jazlynn if the chef couldn’t make it the original way. That I wouldn’t want the sea bass so again hats off to Jazlynn and the amazing chef on staff tonight 12-17-2025 at around 6ish. Merry Christmas. Thanks for making my dream come true cook slightly crispy and moist what a combo.

We continually try to support this local place as the Marina is such a nice area. Staff is vastly unknowledgeable on their wines. There's a noticeable absence of staff behind the bar at times. Few food items we've had have always been great. There's no real vibe even when having live music.
