From the moment I walk into this place, I am greeted by the happiest and most helpful staff. The bar is one of my favorite spots, and the drinks they make are fabulously delicious. When they have a band it gets crowded with nice and fun people that are dancing and singing their hearts out, I love the ambiance when the band is there.
The food is superb, my favorite is the ribeye steak that they always cook to perfection (medium rare for me). I can easily eat there every day if I could. I love celebrating at the Bull Pen, I have been going there for years and everyone there is so nice. The fact that they have the same staff for decades comforts me to know that the owners are very nice to the employees. I personally don't like going to places where they're constantly changing the staff. | 100% recommend this place for a quick gather, couple date or family dates. You won't regret it!

My wife and I live off esplanade which any local knows how close it is. Didn’t feel like cooking and didn’t feel like cheap fast food so we wanted to support local. Called the bull pen at around 10:05 said they won’t take to go orders over the phone and refused to put us on with a manager. My wife and I got there by 10:15 and placed an order when the manager did come out, he said one burger is $29 after 10pm which it does not say on their menu or any sign. His consolation was “it comes with a dinner salad on top of the onion rings which was only +$1 charge” — he said the owners are trying to make it more of a steak place. First and last time. Trashy trashy clientele and absolutely awful experience.
It’s also illegal to not say the burger price after 10pm will be an up charge of $17. You heard that right, $17.
Can’t wait till Monday to not only contact the BBB but the local Redondo council to let them know what their “local businesses” are doing.

This is a very “old school” local strip mall steak house. I’d venture to say that most of the patrons are regulars. Start with classic martini, and a 5 piece Shrimp cocktail. The steaks are good, albeit pricy for the cut, but flavorful. The chicken/pasta and beef tournedos were possibly better options. The wine list is limited but the 1000 ml Austin Hope is the go-to move. They have entertainment most Thursday-Saturday nights!

BullPen restaurant grill cheese issues!
I have lived in South Redondo my whole life and have eaten at the Bull Pen many times. Every time I go there I get their yummy grilled cheese sandwich ?. I am a vegetarian and my boyfriend ordered a hamburger ? and we ordered salads. I was also ordering a burger for my son to go. We were waiting for our food with a cocktail ? when the sweet waitress came to me and said that the manager said I couldn’t have a grilled cheese sandwich ? because it’s on the kids menu. I was like what ? I will pay extra if that is the issue? Got the snotty unprofessional manager and he refused to let me order the grilled cheese. I told him I have always ordered it and why is it an issue now? He Blamed it on the owner… I asked them what can I eat? He said a backed potato ? Upset and embarrassed because people were watching we paid our bill for the 2 drinks and left.
I am writing this post because I am shocked that BullPen management was not accommodating to me a paying customer and just let me have a grilled cheese sandwich ?. I am truly disappointed in this restaurant that is in my community and will never go back ever and neither will will my family and friends (who all live in Redondo)!
After a very stressful day at work
I just wanted my GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH ? lol ?

I recently visited The Bullpen, a longstanding establishment in Redondo Beach where I've resided for three decades. While most of the food items were enjoyable, my experience was overshadowed by a concerning incident.
Upon observing a disagreement between the tiny round glasses wearing manager and a patron, it became evident that the restaurant enforces a strict policy against serving items from the children's menu to adults. Despite the patron's reasonable request for a grilled cheese sandwich, the manager adamantly refused, citing this policy. Why couldn't he offer an adult grilled cheese sandwich ? easy enough right?
The situation was disheartening and embarrassing for all present. As a vegetarian who had previously ordered the grilled cheese sandwich, the patron's request seemed entirely reasonable. The refusal not only showcased poor customer service but also left a negative impression on nearby diners.
While I appreciate the need for restaurant policies, denying a paying customer a menu item, especially one readily available, is unacceptable. The manager's inflexibility and lack of empathy marred an otherwise pleasant dining experience.
I urge the restaurant's owner to address this issue promptly. Customer satisfaction should always be a priority, and arbitrary rules should not supersede common sense and hospitality. And never argue and embarrass a client for anything so simple!
If I ever witness such behavior from a manager, server or restaurant.. I will likely not return.I will definitely let the community know that they may be denied menus items, and may be embarrassed in public. Horrifying behavior do better tiny round glasses manager guy. Save your clown behavior for your time off!?

Old time steakhouse atmosphere with good food at a high price.
This place is dark, usually busy and almost always good. I only had one or two things that were less than spectacular.
The steaks are always good, the sides are sharable and good, the service is excellent but sometimes not very accommodating. (Ordered burgers and sides, but wanted some complementary bread and they were like, no! Not for burger orders!
Overall this is a good place. Good food and the people are mostly locals and friendly. They have music on random days and it is fun (not necessarily good) but fun.
The staff is professional and diligent.
Parking: This place is in a strip mall and shares the lot, so parking can be difficult sometimes.
