We have never walked out of a restaurant without paying, until last night at El Torito. It was apparent from the instant when we sat down that they were way, way, way understaffed. We noticed after an hour of being there that the large party next to us that was already seated when we arrived began getting their orders bit by bit. We eventually got an appetizer which was terrible. After being there for over 1 1/2 hours, we told the waitress that we were not waiting any longer. An assistant manager came over and told us how they were not given enough staff that night. We knew that. The place is nothing but a chain restaurant with terrible food (what little we received) and totally chaotic staff
Ok for California food/prices. Good amount of fajita. Strange color for beef. Queso great price for happy hour. Salsa cold (Stop serving it hot, you ignorant savages.) No frozen Margaritas- blended only. If you’re going to make a frozen margarita, you have to have a high-quality blender and liquify the ice. You didn’t, so miss a star. I’ll be back.
We eat here all the time. The food is great. The staff is delightful. The views are epic. Just get a margarita and enjoy yourself with some table side guac… extra spicy!
Good service, great food
In from Denver for a few days and my girlfriend and I went here for dinner. No long wait to get a table, our server (Daniel) was very prompt and polite, and the food was fantastic! She got the chicken fajita deal for $10.99 and I got the chile rellenos. Can't believe how good the red sauce was on them! Everything was absolutely delicious! The corn cake was awesome too! Highly recommend!! Enjoy!!
Young lady was nice.. we went for happy hour

Me and my girlfriend went on a date here.Service and food was nothing to remember but overall decent food. The only thing I loved was the view of the ocean shore.
Great happy hour deals. That margarita flight was fun and delicious. Tacos were spicier than expected but still good!

I had an amazing time there, we went to celebrate Mother's Day, our waiter was really friendly and nice and made us laugh. The food is really good. It was the best Mother's Day's dinner we gave to our mother. I 100% recommend this restaurant.
Everything seemed a little chaotic. Everyone was all over the place. Our food arrived before utensils so we were basically looking at our food, until someone called the waiters attention to notify him that we were missing utensils.
I had reservations for a window seat. When I arrived the host tried to sit us at a window seat in the very far corner of the restaurant. I explained that I made reservations and would like to be at one of the open booths towards the ocean. She was not happy about this, and told me that that particular section was too busy. I explained that even though we had reservations and this should have been planned out better I would wait. She brought me up front and told me to sit on bench and that it would be about 15 minutes. As I said there were lots of empty tables, she was not happy with my choice, was talking to a waiter and laughing about it... and continued to take her time seating me. It was an uncomfortable and awkward exchange. I had not been there in years, and was very disappointed with the service she gave me, waiter was nice however food was just so so. Nothing I will return for. So definitely overpriced and unpleasant experience.
The place was packed and under staffed. Three special plates of chicken fajitas and the chicken was super dry. One chicken enchiladas asked for sour cream on the side that never arrived. You could tell the staff was trying very hard but they were just swamped.
Great deals on fajitas and margaritas. Both were delicious. The bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer was yummy too. The sunset view was gorgeous and we had a friendly and efficient server.
