Came here with my parents for an evening meal and evening was outstanding.
The service in particular was great! Exceeded expectations, helpful, friendly and attentive.
Good food and generous portion size. Will be back for sure.
3/22/25 around mid day. We walked in and stood there for ten minutes, completely ignored. She even stood next to us to fill out a tab on the order machine then walked away. Seated and it was over 10 minutes before we got handed waters, we wanted to order drinks. We ordered and our Arnold Palmer never came, I never got a refil on my water until I flagged her down. She had stopped at so many tables multiple times but never ours. The tables were left dirty for over 20 minutes. There was only around 4 other tables. They just need better staffing and more help. Been here multiple times, the food is always amazing, they just need more servers.
Food was so amazing and so was the service! I recommend the dragon roll, chicken gyoza, and ramen. My friend loved the edamame.
Excellent food, ambience, environment
Overall the experience was great, food was great, service was amazing but the one thing I could say is the wait time even if I already had a reservation. I had a reservation at 7:30 pm and got there at 7:20 pm. The host said it will be a few minutes until I got sat down with my husband. Time keeps going by and we are not sitting down yet. It's 8:20 pm now and we finally got sat down. If there are reservations I personally think there should be a manager or someone clocking table and having a time table on each table. There were way too many tables just sitting, this should be the restaurants managements role to push the tables out on a busy Friday night. Tables should be flipped at 1.5-2 hours cap. I know we were not the only ones kind of disturbed by this, there were about another 20 people outside waiting as well and leaving. But after all that, the food and ambiance was amazing.
Just an excellent meal-service and vibe was so energetic and upbeat Sushi and all was excellent
I was pleasantly surprised! The Tan Tan Ramen stands out with its rich, nutty chicken broth that’s smooth and full of flavor. The spicy miso pork adds a nice kick, while fresh bok choy, red bell pepper, and radish sprouts bring a crisp contrast. The broth is comforting without being too heavy, and the balance of spice and nuttiness makes every bite satisfying. A great choice if you’re looking for a flavorful, well-crafted ramen.
There is a limit of 3 cards for a group though.
When it comes to sushi, I usually opt for minimal traditional sushi. But the quality of the fish and creativity of the dishes at Japonica keeps bringing me back. While there are many places out there that does cut rolls, spicy tuna, and hamachi jalapeño plates, the execution of these dishes at Japonica elevate the restaurant to a higher tier than the rest. My date and I were definitely pleased with our experience here.
Overall our experience was good, the service was a little off, just not consistent. We had to ask to order and we didn't have one server. Everyone was friendly. The food was great, came quickly. Just took a little longer to be served. Would come back!
Made a reservation for 5:45. Didn’t get seated until 6:30. Granted they were busy, a Saturday night. But a reservation. Never got drink refills. Staff kindness was okay, could’ve been better. We were missing lots of our food. I would not recommend their tantans (ramen) sushi was good though, and their house made smoked soy sauce was to die for.
Restaurantji Recommends
This is a hip Japanese place with outdoor seating and heaters. This would have been a 5 star, but kitchen could not get our food out all together, for 6 people.
The food was fantastic we had everything from bowl, soup, and sushi.
Our waiter was very attentive as possible, the place was packed with a line outside.
Our family would surely visit again.
Everything from start to finish was amazing. And they knocked it out of the park even on Valentine's Day!
We love our local sushi spot! Great creative and so fresh rolls! To die for homemade SMOKEY soy sauce... and Saki selections to wash it all down with. Small place so make a resy!
We went for LA restaurant week and were very happy with the service and food. The room was almost "energetic" as we had a birthday group next to us that were deep into the sake. Parking was an issue but overall, 4.5 stars and would recommend.
The Slammin’ Salmon roll lives up to its name! It was so good, so fresh! I ate the entire thing and I usually don’t finish my rolls. I don’t know why other sushi restaurants don’t add baked salmon to the menu. I was grateful Japonica offered it!
