We came here on Christmas Eve with family and had a really nice evening. It was busy, but once seated everything felt calm and organized. The soup was warm and comforting, perfect for a cold holiday night. The food came out at a steady pace and tasted fresh. One thing I really appreciated was the parking—plenty of spaces, easy to get in and out, and felt safe even at night. Overall, a relaxed and enjoyable way to spend Christmas Eve.

Even though the weekend crowd was big, the new winter menu made the experience feel special. The BBQ was perfectly seasoned and the seasonal sake added a refined touch. A warm, comforting winter meal that’s truly worth lining up for.

The new winter menu at King Plus Shabu is absolutely fantastic! The updated BBQ items are incredibly flavorful, and the newly added sake selections pair perfectly with the meal. We came during a busy weekend peak time, and although there was a wait, it was completely worth it.
Warm broth, delicious grilled dishes, and smooth sake made the whole experience feel extra cozy on a cold day. Highly recommend trying the new menu—you won’t be disappointed!

I live in Torrance and have visited King Plus Shabu more times than I can count. I would probably be considered a loyal regular at this point. Interestingly, despite dining here so often, I have never written a review before. Every time the owner was present, the experience was exceptional—warm service, thoughtful attention, and truly unforgettable meals.
But on my most recent visit, the owner wasn’t there, and the service felt noticeably different. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t the standard I’ve come to expect from this place. Since I genuinely love this restaurant, I felt it was finally time to leave a review—not to complain, but to gently remind the management of something important.
The restaurant promotes a full-service dining experience during weekday dinners and weekend lunch hours, which is one of the main reasons I adore this place. However, during peak hours, the servers often look extremely busy—walking back and forth constantly—yet somehow not getting much done. They seem inexperienced and unaware that one efficient trip around the dining area could resolve multiple guest needs, instead of pacing the same route repeatedly without accomplishing much.
Surprisingly, this isn’t only during busy times. Even in slower hours, the staff seem overwhelmed or unsure of what to prioritize. And weekend dinner service… well, let’s just say it leaves much room for improvement.
All of this is especially noticeable because the food here is absolutely top-tier. Everything is fresh and delicious. The A5 wagyu is both high-quality and reasonably priced. The broth portions are generous and full-bodied—not watered down like many other shabu spots with tiny pots and bland soup. In my opinion, this is truly the No.1 shabu restaurant in all of South Bay.
The new BBQ items on the menu are spectacular, and many of their sake selections can’t even be found in other Japanese restaurants or liquor shops. The restroom is always clean and well-kept, which to me reflects the standards of the kitchen as well. In nearly every way, this restaurant is close to perfect.
Except for the service.
Other busy restaurants operate with the same number of servers, yet their teams appear more coordinated, efficient, and energetic. Here, the effort is there—but the execution needs guidance.
I’m writing this because I care about this place. King Plus Shabu is almost like my second dining home, and I want to see it continue to shine. But if the service quality remains the same during my future visits, I may have to reconsider my rating.
I truly hope management takes this feedback to heart. The food here deserves service that matches its excellence.

Waited for over an hour, staff were lost, people were just walking out. Terrible service, avoid this place.

Finally, a hot pot restaurant that isn’t chaotic. The environment is calm, the service is professional, and the food is clean and fresh. It’s not for those who like loud, greasy street-style dining—but for everyone else, it’s perfect.

Ordered the premium AYCE on a less than half-filled restaurant on a weekday. It took the severs close to 30 minutes to give a refill on the meat. The servers seemed like they completely forgot the order on multiple occasions and wouldn't be surprised if the delay was intentional. Find a local steakhouse or bbq place to get your money's worth instead. By far the worst AYCE experience.

You can immediately taste the difference between King Plus and the typical AYCE spots. The meat quality here doesn’t need heavy seasoning or oil to impress—it’s naturally rich and flavorful.

I’m not a fan of AYCE or courses since I don’t like wasting food. I prefer ordering à la carte, and the seafood here is top-notch. The shrimp and scallops tasted so fresh!

Love that you can get AYCD here! Ice cold beer, sake cocktails, and attentive refills. Pair that with endless wagyu and you have a perfect weekday night spot.
King Plus Shabu is a true hidden gem in the South Bay. Full service, clean atmosphere, and some of the best beef I’ve had in LA. If you value real ingredients and professional service, this is your place.

Loved the sake event—fun, social, and beautifully organized. The atmosphere made it easy to relax and connect with others. I’m thinking of hosting my company’s next networking event here since they can customize everything from the menu to the seating.

If you care about real quality rather than piling up cheap food, this is your place. The broth is clean, the meats are fresh, and everything is served to you with care. This isn’t a loud, messy AYCE joint—it’s a true dining experience.
