Musubis are good and teriyaki is a hit but their poke bowls are not it. Too salty! But everything else is pretty good. Been going here for a while now service is great but sometimes I’d go and they’re closed. Idk but still worth a try if you’re looking for something to eat, probably just not the poke. But maybe it’s just the preparer.

Sadly this place has gone a bit downhill. The sushi was so cold it was almost frozen. For dine-in they give you your food in a takeout container. I starting going here around 8 years ago and was a great option for reasonably priced sushi. Maybe it was just an off night?
Moved to the neighborhood and discovered this gem!

This place is not the same as I remembered. I think the original owner retired. The menu looks pretty much the same and the food is decent. Just something was different.

Love this place. Great food, lots of options, big portions, nice staff. 10/10
super bland boiled veggies and chicken, coupled with “curry” that might as well be from a box

Tasty food, their menu has been the same for many years and I am here for it, but portions are getting smaller and smaller, i remember when they used to serve the two item plate with a complementary miso soup. Prices are reasonable but they don’t have the dine in service they used to like not offering their dine in food in a foam plate and plastic disposable cups for water.

South Bay Rice Things has had its share of wobbles over the years, like a barstool after one too many. But right now? They’re firing on all cylinders. Prices might make you raise an eyebrow—think “fancy cocktail” territory—but the food’s so damn good you’ll fork over the cash with a smile. And the service? It’s the whipped cream on your latte, making the whole deal feel worth it.
Their menu leans hard into Americanized Japanese sushi, and I’m here for it. In the South Bay, “authentic” sushi joints are about as common as a sunny day in Seattle, and some of those spots act like you need a secret handshake to order. Look, I’m not a Klingon warlord—I don’t need my fish still wriggling. SBRT keeps it simple: tasty, approachable, no side of intimidation.
What keeps me coming back is the reliability—like a dive bar that always has your favorite beer on tap. The rolls burst with flavor, hold up like champs for takeout or delivery (no sad, soggy messes), and the staff’s cool with customizing orders if you’re feeling extra. Seating’s tighter than my old Levi’s, and the crowd can be a mixed bag, but the vibe? Solid as a rock. South Bay Rice Things is my kind of spot, and I’m not just saying that because I’m too old to chase the next hip thing.

Love this place! The food is delish!🤩
For several years I was a steady customer at Rice Things. Life and circumstances made it such that I had not been back there in probably 15 years. What was once a great local Japanese eatery is but a shadow of its former self. It was sad. Maybe this isn’t a fair review as I’m comparing what I fondly remember with today’s reality, but comparing this with other like-priced Japanese restaurants Rice Things still comes up wanting.

I didn’t dining so I didn’t add atmosphere. I’ve ordered from them for about 13 months. I usually take it to go. I’ve only eaten there one time with guests. This is the second time that they have given me less than what they usually do. And it’s also on a Sunday that happened twice on the Sunday. I will never order from them again on the Sunday nor do I think I’m going to go back? I found another udon place that I can go to. That’s a little bit further away, but I think it will be worth it. I don’t appreciate paying good money. Less leaving 20% tip and getting less than what I usually get for the same order. I mentioned it to them months ago that it had happened on Sunday and it didn’t happen again. But it happened again today so I’m done. I won’t be back!

A hidden gem, hole in the wall. Used to be a cheap place to eat good food before inflation. Food is still good but a bit more pricey these days. Best bang for the buck is the 2 or 3 item combo. No matter what you order from here, everything is good and delicious!

I had the chicken curry. It was good value but way too mild for me. I like mine 2 on a scale of 0 to 10. Their curry is a 0.
