For several years I was a steady customer at Rice Things. Life and circumstances made it such that I had not been back there in probably 15 years. What was once a great local Japanese eatery is but a shadow of its former self. It was sad. Maybe this isn’t a fair review as I’m comparing what I fondly remember with today’s reality, but comparing this with other like-priced Japanese restaurants Rice Things still comes up wanting.
I didn’t dining so I didn’t add atmosphere. I’ve ordered from them for about 13 months. I usually take it to go. I’ve only eaten there one time with guests. This is the second time that they have given me less than what they usually do. And it’s also on a Sunday that happened twice on the Sunday. I will never order from them again on the Sunday nor do I think I’m going to go back? I found another udon place that I can go to. That’s a little bit further away, but...
A hidden gem, hole in the wall. Used to be a cheap place to eat good food before inflation. Food is still good but a bit more pricey these days. Best bang for the buck is the 2 or 3 item combo. No matter what you order from here, everything is good and delicious!
