Very disappointed with my experience here. I drove over an hour to dine at Sushi Chitose, only to be told upon arrival that they only take reservations directly. Nowhere on their website or Instagram was this made clear.
If a restaurant requires direct reservations, it should be communicated transparently online. Wasting customers’ time like this is extremely frustrating and unprofessional.

Reservations only! Omakase surpassed expectations... only took one pic because it was so fresh and exquisite it went straight down the hatch! Highly recommend!

As far as omakases go, it was fine. Nothing spectacular. Also super slow

Sushi Chitose is an absolute gem! I’ve only been twice, but every visit has been an incredible experience. The owner, Gen, is not only knowledgeable but also creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The sushi here is as traditional and authentic as it gets—perfectly balanced portions of rice and the freshest fish. When I want omakase, this is the only place I go. The seating is also well-spaced, making it a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. Highly recommend for anyone looking for top-tier sushi!

*Reservations only* This hidden gem was found through looking at online reviews and lucked out in calling 3 days before for a birthday dinner reservation for a close friend.

Parking is limited but managed to get a spot closer to the liquor store next door. Arrived a bit early for the reservation but we were seated right away at the sushi counter.

Omakase sushi is the way to go, the sushi chef times the next offering perfectly while you enjoy the sushi. The fish is fresh and the rice quality/quantity is perfectly balanced. A lot of the sushi was already marinated in a shoyu base, so only a dab of wasabi was needed. Enjoyed the omakase and conversation so much that I only took one photo too. 🍣🍣

As this was both of our first time here, overall i was impressed with the price, quality and service, and my friend was very happy that we could enjoy this omakase experience at such a relaxed pace on her special day. 🙏🙏

Definitely returning to this place when I visit LA again.... 5 stars🤙

The hidden gem of the area. Traditional style sushi place. Small and quiet. There is only Omakase and you can add more at the end if you want more. There is also a drinks menu of course.

Reservations are required - no walk-ins, no take out. Fishes change out depending on what is available.

Came here to celebrate our anniversary and had their omakase. Sushi Chitose is a gem! Very high quality fish that I'm still thinking about. My favorites were the Inari, salmon, and toro nigiri. I can probably eat the blue crab hand roll everyday.

I have been a regular visitor here since its opening and can confidently say it offers some of the best sushi in the United States. The chef, Gen, not only impresses with his sushi-making skills but also with the ambiance he creates and his focus on healthy ingredients, among other commendable aspects. It’s a bit of a hidden gem, which means there’s a loyal clientele and a wonderful overall atmosphere. Reservations are essential. Make sure to book in advance and come hungry. That’s part of the etiquette of enjoying top-notch dining.

The sushi pieces were tiny but I suppose that's what you get for that price point omakase.

Okay nothing this good should be in Redondo Beach but it is? Shame on all of the other pretenders. It’s just that superb. Chef Jen scales the culinary heights of Parnassus with ease and grace. A superb experience! You have to slow down and adjust to the tempo of the space and service. You have no better place to go! Trust me!
