The Rex Steakhouse

By far, my favorite steakhouse in the South Bay. The Rex offers the best food, service, and ambiance in Redondo Beach and beyond. The appetizers are incredible, including the newly released French Onion Soup, Captain's Shrimp, and the Bluefin Tuna with its citrus flavor. The salads are terrific too - my favorite is the Caesar. And if you get the bread, make sure to dab a bit of the butter on it. Yes, it's gluttonous, but you're welcome! For entrees, you can't go wrong with the steaks, including the filet and ribeye (my faves), especially with the Point Reyes blue cheese or chimichurri. The quality of the meat is better than anything around, and the sear, seasoning, and woody flavors are incredible. If you don't want steak, I have to recommend the tagliatelle pasta in duck ragu, which is probably my favorite dish on the entire menu. It bears repeating: if you haven't had their tagliatelle, go back and try it. It's unbelievable. The swordfish with risotto, the branzino, the short rib, and even the burger are all amazing. To cap dinner off, get the butter cake - it's hands down the best you'll ever have anywhere. The staff is experienced and friendly. If you go here, you'll be amidst a ton of regulars and for good reason - this is a favorite and will be yours soon too!

The service was really slow and not very attentive. The wait for our drinks and food took so long.

The Rex is one of our favorite restaurants in the South Bay. The food is delicious and they are knowledgeable about gluten free dietary needs. The service is wonderful from beginning to end. There is no better place to be than the Rex!

We went to Rex for a New Year's Eve dinner. It was a lot of fun. The staff were helpful and friendly. The food was great as usual. 

$180 Tomahawk steak arrived cold! How'd they manage that? I complained and they warmed it up under a heater! Still cold. Mashed potatoes, a few table spoonfuls, $15, and also cold. Everything was rushed. I've been to Rex many times over the years, they completely screwed up this dinner

Everything we ordered was amazing, especially the steak tartar, octopus, and wedge salad. Service is always impeccable. Best espresso martini as well!

Nice atmosphere but our steaks came out lukewarm. Also it took a very long time to get a drink or the food. We may give it another shot in the future and try the seafood. It's so close to home.

We enjoyed our meal. The steak Tartar was excellent. The wedge salad was good but could have used more blue cheese. My husbands steak was excellent. I ordered the swordfish and sent it back. The texture of the fish was off. They were very accommodating and apologized for the swordfish. I will happily go back again. My only complaint was the location of our table, we were next to the walkway to the bathroom.

A good place for expensive but good food. Not a great place for a date night, since it was pretty loud while being being half full. Slides really only serve 2 people. Server was difficult to hear and did not come back to check after food was delivered. Had to wait 20 minutes to get the check, after we reminded her and she continued to check in on other tables before finally bringing it.

We always have a great time eating at the Rex. The food is always so good and the host waiter and waitresses are also charming. Our server Michaela was outstanding and always nice to see her smile as she greets with our next serving. Thanks 

Excellent higher end steakhouse. Enjoyed the prime rib and martini Sunday -- a nice value!

What a wonderful experience from the lovely woman at the reception that was able to check my very heavy coat I know that was going to be great. Then our server was top notch even knowing a wine I would like with my meal. when the wonderful trio of steak cam out it looked and tasted great. But wait!! The chef was not satisfied with one of the cuts of meat so he sent out another that was actually better (the first one was good). That kind of attention to detail is VERY impressive. Can't wait to go again. Highly recumbent this wonderful experience.

Never disappoints. Love the place. Anytime I want to have a nice dinner and overall a pleasant evening Rex is the place in South Bay.

We did not have a good experience here. We did not have a reservation, and were seated at the small Bar against the wall and near the kitchen which was a high-traffic area. I believe the bartender forgot to pour liquor into our drinks. The flour dinner was ok but nothing to brag about. For a steakhouse, it fell short in standing out as a good steakhouse. Outside seating available. Street parking only. Will not be back.
