This is the most AUTHENTIC Texas BBQ I have seen here in California. Absolutely so here in the Bay. You can't go wrong.

Very honest and basic provider. Wood fired BBQ with no twists and turns. Sides basic and compliment the entrées perfectly. Portions are beyond generous. The 'order and pay at counter, get drinks and sit' delicatessen paradigm works well, which is probably why the value for money is gratifying. The venue is somewhat primitive, but appropriate. Unfortunately, the experience is somewhat degraded by rather loud, pervasive, and somewhat inappropriate music. At our latest visit it was difficult to carry on a rather rudimentary conversation. This is particularly aggravating to those of us with hearing assistance devices who tend to perceive this background as distortion components.

Best barbecue, this side of the Bay Area! Very relaxed, casual dining, like you were at a friend’s place; and it’s a party in the garage. The food is flavorful, and all the meats are tender and well-seasoned. I usually get the three-meat sampler, the brisket, pulled pork, and the jalapeño cheddar sausage. With an order of the 1-meat, 2-meat, or 3-meat samplers, you get two sides; my wife and I usually get the cilantro peanut slaw, with either baked beans, or mac & cheese. The barbecue sauces range from sweet mustard, to really spicy; enough to cater to everyone’s liking. You can also get dill pickles, pickled onions and jalapeños to accompany your meal. Fountain drinks, and an array of beers are available to complement the food. There’s always a party vibe when we visit Capelo’s. They have widescreen TVs where you can watch games as well. There’s a limited number of parking slots in their compound, and street parking nearby. So if you’re looking for some fun and drinks, great food, come bring your family, or meet up here with friends to watch a game or something. The staff is friendly, and efficient, and they will make sure you’re having a great time, whenever you come to Capelo’s!

Way too expensive for how unsatisfying the food was. Everything was pink and/or fat , none of the meat fell off the bone. Very disappointing I just spent my money on that. Baked beans were good though.

Great southern BBQ the best I have found since I moved here 5 years ago!
I've been here before and enjoyed the ribs and the terrific breakfast brisket sandwich. But today, not so much. The brisket was very dry, even after slathering it in BBQ sauce. The beans a great and a little soupy so the brisket went in there to get it down. Also, the "cornbread " is sheet polenta and kinda greasy. These part of lunch was their mac and cheese which is more like an alfredo sauced pasta - but good.

The service has been so-so from the start. The food is expensive. The servings are far from generous.

This was my first time here. I love the atmosphere here and the relaxed vibe is perfect. Was able to watch some college football on the big TV on the outside patio. However, I must say that I was somewhat let down by the pulled pork. The flavor was simply lacking. Maybe I just came on an off night, because others have really raved about the food here. Wanted to actually try the brisket, but they were out. Overall, I like the venue, but I’ll have to try a dish other than the pulled pork and see if I get better results.
