I’m writing this review to warn others about the reliability of this restaurant's reservation system. I booked a table here in advance through Google Maps/OpenTable and received a full confirmation. However, when I arrived at the restaurant for my reservation, I was turned away because they were closed to the public for a private event.
I completely understand that restaurants host private events, but it is incredibly unprofessional to leave reservations open online and fail to notify guests who have already booked. I received no phone call, email, or cancellation notice through OpenTable beforehand.
It is very frustrating to drive out of your way only to have your evening plans derailed by bad basic management. If you plan on eating here, I highly recommend calling the restaurant directly to confirm they are actually open to the public, because you unfortunately cannot trust their online reservation system.
They recently added a couple new items...corn ribs and ahi tuna. Both are delicious.

Tracey, our server and bartender was excellent. We never had to wait very long for our drinks along the way and our food.
Always excellent, we enjoyed dinners of skirt steak —a favorite for decades — and surf and turf, and they were both delicious. Service is always above and beyond at Mistral, and the ambience is terrific. Our favorite spot!
We've visited this place many many times during our 10 years in Redwood Shores, but I wanted to do a shout-out to this often overlooked gem. Massive Menus (Main Menu, Bar Menu and Daily Specials). Steak, Seafood, Pasta, In-house made Pizza (Mediterranean, Spanish, Asian, French, American) and all the dishes are freshly made. Full bar with handcrafted cocktails, Beer and massive winecard. Add to all this, a covered outside dining area with a massive fireplace and overlooking the lagoon. It's a little off the beaten path, but it's worth the detour.
We went to an early dinner to ring in the New Year and the staff and food made it a wonderful evening.
Good food at average dining out price. Fried calamari could use more calamari vs. onions. Great service!!! Must try the banana split !!!
Loved this restaurant so much! The food was amazing and the whole vibe was super family-friendly. Staff were calm, welcoming, and made us feel at home. Definitely coming back again!

We had an enjoyable evening yesterday at Mistral. Our server was excellent, very personable and professional. We started with the bread and fritto misto, both tasty. Our entrees were the short ribs and two orders of the surf and turf. Short ribs were yummy and will be ordered again. The surf and turf were OK. Steak was prepared as ordered and tasted good. One steak fought against the steak knife a bit. I did not enjoy the 3 scampi prawns as much as I hoped. A little under-done and not very flavorful. It's difficult not to over cook shrimp, but a little longer in the pan and a little more seasoning would make a difference. We brought our own favorite red wine and I was pleased with the corkage price of $25.00. We would recommend Mistral and will definitely return.
Terrible experience they never should've had people are booked tables this night when they had so many Christmas parties. It was loud it was noisy. The service was awful. It was overall a terrible experience. The food was a nightmare wouldn't recommend it to anyone very disappointing.
I went here for a work dinner and enjoyed it. The service was great and I like the atmosphere. I would recommend giving this restaurant a try. I like sweets and loved the bread pudding.

Great restaurant!! Food is always delicious and the service is excellent!! We went at 5:30 on a Tuesday night thinking it would not be busy and would be quieter but that was not the case!! Seems like a lot of business groups were there for dinner so it was a bit louder than we expected. By 6:30-6:45 the place had cleared out and was much quieter. We will keep that in mind for next time! Highly recommend this restaurant!!
Our overall experience at this restaurant wasn't pleasant. The food (2 starters and 2 main courses) was below average, especially the $45 main course of Halibut. Which was overcooked, even the manager agreed with us. The service was slow and they forgot our soup. The only thing was positive the manager gave us a discount on the bill for the overcooked Halibut, which was nice of him.
