This may be a small overlooked donut shop, but as a connoisseur of donuts they have my vote as Number One. Their cinnamon-sugar cake donuts are out of this world. Go early or order the day before—they go fast. Overall, their raised glazed donuts are big, fluffy, and delightful. All their varieties are made the night before and if you don’t get to their shop by about 1 PM you may be out of luck.

Donuts with a twist of saltenas ??. Donuts are just huge- not too sweet & generous portion. We also got chicken saltenas for our hiking. Must try!

*Haven't tried the Donut yet, here to rate the Salteñas* JUICY Empanadas - Salteñas are Bolivian savory pastries filled with beef or chicken mixed in a sweet, slightly spicy sauce containing olives, raisins and potatoes. Piping HOT juices at every bite! I really don't know how they keep their pastries juicy on the inside and not soggy at all! Prices: $3.75 Beef $3.75 Chicken $3.50 Vegetarian I liked both Beef and Chicken but if I had to choose one, the chicken was tastier!! TIP: call before you arrive (30mins in advance) so they can bake them fresh! Otherwise they will be frozen. Same price baked or frozen.

Wow. 1st - nicest staff ever. love that. makes me wanna go back again and again. 2nd - they introduced me to their salteñas (bolivian, like empanadas) and cuñapes (bolivian cheese bread). 3rd - of course, who doesn't love a donut or bear claw or apple fritter or .... YUM. I love supporting this local small business. Big Fan.

My son requested donuts this morning for breakfast, so I turned to Yelp in hopes of finding somewhere that had some savory food as well for me. After seeing the great reviews here, I called ahead to order a couple salteñas as the reviews advised, and headed over to pick them up 25 mins later. They were about to come out of the oven when I arrived, so in the meantime I picked out some donuts for my son. When I got home, the salteñas were still hot and delicious. The sauce is flavorful and the crust is perfectly flaky. My son also thought the donuts were the best donuts he has ever had, so highly recommend if you're in the mood for sweet, savory, or both!

Yelp led me to this place. I called and they put aside some salteña for me. They were tasty both a bit sweet and a bit spicy. I will definitely more again.

Hands down the best value donut place in the area. Donuts here are so cheap, I had to take a double look to see that 6 donuts were only $6! Everywhere else charges about $3 a donut. The donuts are always fresh, super light and fluffy. I came too late to get an order of saltenas but I got a few frozen ones that I can bake at home. Staff there is super nice and helpful. Covid procedures - everyone has a mask on, markers on floor to stand on, plenty of sanitizer everywhere, and staff is behind plastic shields. Also they have Apple Pay (which is so rare for these small donut shops) I'll definitely be coming back for more!!

I placed an order for Saltenas yesterday to pick up before 12 today. Due to horrible traffic coming from walnut creek this morning I didn't make it to Redwood City until 2 pm. There was the store phone on the door and I called and could hear the phone ringing inside. No luck. Then I saw a help wanted sign in the window with a different phone number to contact. The gentleman I reached was John. I explained my predicament - my Bolivian mother in law was in town and to honor her fathers passing I wanted to make her a traditional Bolivian meal. He was already in San Mateo but said he would turn around and get me my order. Thank you John. I really appreciate your very nice gesture. I will see you guys soon for more saltenas orders.

Go here for the Bolivian empanadas. Hot, freshly made and delicious. Try the beef one, chicken ones and veggie ones. The woman's recipe is her grandmother's recipe from Bolivia. Don't be intimidated because the place is tiny and looks old. You don't order from here for the decor. You come for the empanadas. Empanadas five stars, staff five stars, the interior design one star. Try it.

Delicious salteñas! We tried the chicken ones but will come for sure to try the beef one and order frozen ones for home. Thank you

On my walk home, I had a bite of my usual bagel and just went "damn". I needed to make sure anyone googling Donut or Bagel sees this Yelp lol. Their ok'd fashioned donuts are crispy and not like doughy, fluffy etc. The bagels are squishy and tasty. Go.

So I have a few benchmark treats for which I am always searching for perfection, and one of these is the unglazed, plain old-fashioned donut. First time I went to Nuri's for one they were out, but this morning there were three left. I got one and ate it outside the door, and, well, it was as close to perfect as I have found and far better than any other donut shop I have tried in RWC. Super crispy, fresh and free of off oil or fryer flavors, and not too sweet. I'll be back, and now that I see all the yelp reviews of their other treats, I'll be sure to try those also and update this review.

UNIQUE BOLIVIAN PASTRY: Salteñas will get your morning started right with savory goodness. These football shaped pastries were invented in Bolivia in the 1800s. Nuri's version has chicken/beef, potatoes, olives, peas, and stew inside. It's very lightly spicy/hot/sweet and all delicious. The taste will linger in your mouth pleasantly with every bite, I bought 6 and they vanished by end of day. My wife loved them as much as I did. With the soup inside it's closer to a sheng jian bao then it is an empanada. Tips: -they sell out of these very quickly so call ahead to reserve some, they are made in small batches. -best enjoyed relatively quickly or the soup gets absorbed. Hold it upright and take a small bite and work your way down to not waste any soup or have it leak everywhere. -tuesdays they have pao de queijo, chewy brazilian cheese balls made from tapioca powder. -john at the front is a very nice guy patiently answering my questions and letting me know when the next batch would be ready. -they have a selection of donuts that are also good. The sprinkled glaze was softer and not as sweet as normal which my kid loved. They have round donut holes style donuts with sugar and cinnamon with soft-churros vibe.

Great donuts, got there late in the morning and they were almost sold out, but got a cake chocolate, cake maple, raised glazed and cream filled maple bar. All of them were fantastic! Will be back, earlier.
