I guess I’m in the minority because I thought their gelato was too sweet and artificial, and has a soft, slurry like texture. Not rich and creamy. I had chocolate. It was also overpriced.
Wow! I am really impressed by the gelato here. I popped by on a whim and I’m honestly blown away by how clean their gelato tastes. Their gelato isn’t heavily flavored or give off that icky artificial sweet after taste, so if you’re used to baskin robbins this place is not for you. However, if you are (a) looking for a sweet treat that doesn’t make you feel guilty or crummy afterwards or (b) Asian (“not too sweet” is our ultimate compliment after all) then run don’t walk!! I tried their chestnut flavor and their ube flavor. The ube was just right with a light ube taste, toasted coconut, and a hint of vanilla. The gelato was not a ghastly fake purple color. I’ve never been able to finish a whole cone of ice cream/gelato before because it always ends up overwhelmingly sweet, but the gelato here was just too good! I’m going to recommend this spot to all my friends.
The guy inside had a nasty attitude rude as hell. Spent 40 bucks had the kids with me or I would of just walked out
The mint stracciatella is unreal. I've never tasted mint ice cream that tastes like a fresh mint leaf its fantastic and refreshing.
The pistachio and salted caramel were good, but the cookies and cream and the cheesecake were really underwhelming and icy. I would go back for the pistachio!
Tried their pop up at Cal Academy of sciences in SF and absolutely loved it. Mago and Rasperry sorbet were simply top notch. I call myself a gelato snob and this is really really good.
Such delicious gelato at this little shop. Loved the watermelon and sesame so much - perfect blend of sweet and savory and creamy and refreshing. Would totally come back and get the same.
5 stars!!!!
Love this place! Their saffron (Persian) ice cream and mint stracciatella are incredible!
Love the selection of Asian flavors but settled on chocolate theme (dark chocolate, chocolate chip) served along with a hojicha cookie. Yum! The worker was super nice, passionate & creative about the flavor pairings as well.
While it is overpriced the gelato is good. Got the pistachio & Nutella combo.

Delicious dairy free coconut matcha gelato! The cashier was very friendly.
SF Gelateria – A Sweet Little Scoop of Simplicity
Tucked between the buzz of Broadway, SF Gelateria is one of those spots that feels like it belongs in a quiet European side street—small, charming, and filled with the kind of soft-spoken joy only fresh gelato can deliver.
After dinner nearby, my partner and I wandered in for a post-meal treat and were instantly greeted with warm hospitality and a counter full of colorful temptations. We sampled the Honey Lavender (a bit too sweet for me, though floral fans might love it) and the Rose Saffron, which had a nice mellow finish. But in the end, I went with my heart: Ube and Chocolate. A classic combo with just enough flair to keep it interesting. And honestly, sometimes sticking to the basics is the right move. If it ain’t broke, don’t over-scoop it.
They also have pints ready to grab-and-go, which is dangerously convenient. Whether you’re catching the last of the downtown liveliness or grabbing dessert on your way home, this place makes it easy to indulge without overthinking it.
Final scoop: Clean flavors, kind service, and just the right amount of creativity. SF Gelateria knows what it’s doing—and it’s doing it well
Good gelato and service
Their dark chocolate is to die for. Don’t miss out. Great service 👍🏽
Best gelato I have ever had. I just follow my grand kids. They always know better than me.
